NHL Puck Drop 1/26 “Danger Edition”

Taking a look at this MASSIVE Slate you need to identify a few key stats to narrow down your research.

GOALIE
For Goalie I am looking for a team that has a good chance at the victory and a decent chance at getting 35 shots on goal for that DK Bonus. (ALWAYS CHECK GOALIE CONFIRMED STATUS BEFORE LOCK)

Right up front I am seeing one jump off the page in Brian Elliot G-PHI $8000. He’s not cheap but not in the top 5 in pricing either. Betting odds favor them to win as the 5th biggest favorite on the board and they are giving up the most shots on goal per game in the league so far. All signs point to paying off his salary.

Other plays I like:
Frederik Anderson G-TOR $7,800
Robin Lehner G-VGK $8,100
Philip Grubauer $8,400
Mikko Koskinen $7,800

STACKS
Finding the right priced stacks is the key to all NHL DFS. Correlation is imperative. You need to know who skates on the same lines and especially look to see who is on the same power play lines. Target fast paced teams in high scoring opportunities. Stack preference to guys on the 1st and 2nd lines that play together on the same Power Play Unit.

My Favorites today:
WPG & EDM *Chalk Alert – WPG against EDM features the highest combination of goals scored versus goals given up on the slate today. Cash builds will all start with the WPG #1 Power Play Unit.

Connor/Scheifele/Wheeler – CASH
Connor/Wheeler/Stastny – GPP
Stastny/Ehlers/Pionk – GPP

Contrarian Stacks from this game feature running back with EDM mini stacks or fading WPG as the chalk and hoping for that High Scoring game and starting builds with EMD full stacks

McDavid/Nurse or Draisaitl/Nurse – CASH mini stack
McDavid/Draisaitl/Nurse – GPP
Kahun/Neal/Turris – GPP Salary Saver

COL the Avalanche are going to ROLL the Sharks and will be on the shoulders of Nathan MacKinnon. He’s super expensive and can disappoint in big spots but I like the discount pieces around him more than the ones around McDavid.

MacKinnon/Rantanen/Makar – CASH
MacKinnon/Kadri – GPP Mini Stack
MacKinnon/Kadri/Makar – GPP
Kadri/Burakovsky – GPP Value Mini Stack

TOR & CGY another game with potential on both sides.

Matthews/Marner/Reilly – CASH
Matthews/Marner/Hyman – GPP
Nylander/Tavares/Hyman – GPP Value
Simmonds/Kerfoot/Reilly – Contrarian GPP Value

Tkachuk/Monahan/Gaudreau – CASH
Tkachuk/Backlund/Giordano – GPP

BOS I am actually fading Boston…Cash plays are fine and picking individuals to fill out other builds is fine but they are going to go over-owned and I am pivoting to…

BUF as their last 2 games have been fun to watch. Any stack I play here will start with Eichel and I’m keeping it all Power Play 1 line as they are the workhorse.

Eichel/Hall/Olofsson – CASH
Eichel/Hall/Reinhart – CASH
Wichel/Hall – CASH or GPP Mini Stacks

CHI & LA Kings are my upsets of the day winning as road dogs! GPP plays only from this bunch!

Kubalik/Suter/Strome – GPP
Suter/Kane/Keith – GPP

Kopitar/Iafallo/Doughty – GPP
Iafallo/Kempe – GPP Value Mini Stack

Individual Value Plays by Position:

Center
Malkin – PIT $5,200
Giroux – PHI $4,300
Strome – BUF $4,500
Stastny – WPG $4,300

Winger
Bjorkstrand – CBJ $4,700
Van Riemsdyk – PHI $3,800
Duclair – FLA $3,600
Atkinson – CBJ $4,400
Palmieri – NJ $5,100
Mantha – DET $5,000

Defenseman
Letang – PIT $5,800
Jones – CBJ $4,300
Subban – NJ $4,200
Forsling – FLA $2,600
Fowler – ANH $2.900

Roschon Johnson sees huge uptick in usage
Though Week 12's showdown between the Bears and Vikings didn't provide much entertainment, it did shed some light on Chicago's backfield situation. Rookie RB Roschon Johnson ended Monday night with a season-high 75 scrimmage yards on 15 touches. He played on 74.6% of the team's snaps, including all 13 third-down situations. Before this contest, Johnson had never played on over 50% of the Bears' offensive snaps and had just two games with more than 10 touches. His teammate and typical starter Khalil Herbert took a back seat and only played on 15 snaps in the game, seeing 6 carries and 2 catches for a combined 38 yards. Is this a symptom of Herbert having not fully recovered from the ankle injury that kept him out for several games, or is this a changing of the guard? Who knows; that's merely speculative. Still, the results are still somewhat staggering. The Bears are set to go on bye this coming week, though fantasy managers in deeper leagues should entertain adding Johnson off the waiver wire if there's a bench spot to spare.
