DFS Ownership Pivots

Let’s look at some ownerships and possible pivots of the popular players this week using advanced simulation tools.

Source of my ownership and simulations to find pivot suggestions: https://paydirtdfs.com/?aff=Jonnydanger

Quarterbacks:Hayden Daniels locks in as the highest-owned option for the week, but hovering around 10% I don’t see any reason to pivot. No established running game, as of yet, should mean a heavy reliance on Daniels’ arm and legs. I’m in on Jayden.

Sneaky Pivot:
Purdy, with a perhaps limited CMC and a desire to prove his contract worth.

Tipsy Leverage:
Chalk value is on Lawrence and Daniel Jones, commanding more ownership than anyone besides Daniels and Burrow, and that will keep me off both for the most part. For a similar simulated point total and leverage by playing a nearly unowned option, you can play Justin Fields. He doesn’t inspire much confidence, but he is throwing to a stud and can get work done with his feet. Revenge game?

Running Backs:
Chalk is on Chase Brown and James Conner as plays over the higher-priced guys, with Achane and Taylor rounding out the guys that should fall around 15-22% owned. If you can fit Bijan in, even in a supposed bad matchup, you have to when he is down around 5% projected ownerships. I’m in on Jeanty who hyped himself into the first rounds in several drafts I was in, and his opening ownership is the lowest besides Breece Hall of any of the 6k and up players.

Sneaky Pivot:
Getting a piece of Kamara in a good spot while he’s fresh is something I can recommend and feel good about.

Tipsy Leverage:
Both TreVeyon Henderson and Tyrone Tracy Jr are value-priced and mostly overlooked.

Wide Receivers:
The top-owned guys are Egbuka, Chase, London, Thomas Jr, Tee Higgins, and Tet McMillin. I don’t dislike any of these plays, but trying not to get more than 1 or 2  in your lineup will separate your builds from ownership.

Big play pivots:
Nico is a stud. I have him projected just below Chase and Nacua in points and at under 5% projected ownership. We can pivot to Waddle off Hill, we can drop way off the chalk of Egbuka, and for a similar price, go with Ricky Pearsall. If you want to fade ownership completely, taking a shot on an Olave, Wilson, Metcalf, Kupp, or Ridley can really take your lineup in unique directions.

Tipsy Leverage:
Tillman in Cleveland could be a nice surprise at 4400. I don’t see the Bengals stopping anyone, and Flacco will sling it around if he has any left in the tank. Mega cheap options like Dont’e Thornton Jr, Tory Horton, or Ray-Ray can all help you pay up in other spots.

Tight Ends:
Only Njoku is heavily owned, and I am paying up for Kittle or down to Chig or Juwan Johnson. This is a position I’m looking for value in this week.

Defense:
Play who you can fit. I want to see how some units come out swinging before thinking too hard here.

Calvin Ridley caught 4-of-8 targets for 27 yards in the Titans' Week 1 loss against the Broncos.
Ridley struggled to get open with Patrick Surtain shadowing him for much of the contest. Seeing a team-leading 28 percent target share, Ridley could have salvaged his statistical day on two four quarter targets that he dropped, dooming the Titans' last-minute comeback attempt against the heavily favored Broncos.

Jameson Williams caught 4-of-5 targets for 23 yards in the Lions' Week 1 loss to the Packers, adding one carry for three yards.
Jared Goff faced plenty of pressure from Micah Parsons and the Packers' pass-rush in this game, leading to a check-down-first approach. As the team's primary deep threat, that spelled certain doom for Williams. He amassed a measly 13 percent target share and watched rookie Isaac TeSlaa score the team's only touchdown of the day late in the fourth quarter. Better days will be ahead for Williams when Goff has more time in the pocket, but the Lions are working with multiple new starters on the offensive line and face a strong Chicago pass-rush next week. Williams will be a boom/bust WR3 for Week 2.

Kenneth Walker III rushed 10 times for 20 yards in the Seahawks' Week 1 loss to the 49ers, adding three receptions for four yards.
The 49ers' defense deserves credit, but Walker was simply outplayed by backfield-mate Zach Charbonnet. Walker was on the field for the Seahawks' first drive. Charbonnet was featured on the second. Curiously, Walker out-targeted Charbonnet three-to-zero, but it was Charbonnet who first took the field on the Seahawks' final drive, as Seattle's two-minute offense attempted to generate a comeback. Walker subbed in once the unit entered the red zone but a fumble lost by Sam Darnold ended that brief sequence unceremoniously. Ultimately, Walker totaled just 21 offensive snaps to Charbonnet's 30. Walker is best viewed as an RB3/FLEX option against the Steelers next week.

Texans HC DeMeco Ryans said C Jake Andrews has a foot injury and will undergo further evaluations.
We don't know the severity of Andrews' injury, but the third-year center was carted off the field in the third quarter and did not return to the field. Andrews was claimed off waivers by the Texans earlier this offseason and earned the starting job in training camp. Andrews appeared on 45 snaps in his Week 1 outing against the Rams, earning a blocking grade of 72.7 on the day, per PFF.

Amon-Ra St. Brown caught 4-of-6 targets for 45 yards in the Lions' Week 1 loss to the Packers.
The Lions' offense was in a funk from the start of this contest and spiraled downward as the quarters passed. Jared Goff was under pressure often and looked to his running back Jhamyr Gibbs more often than not. He peppered Gibbs with a team-high 10 targets. Because all of the check-downs were going to Gibbs, there wasn't much meat left on the bone for St. Brown. Things should improve as the Lions settle in under first-year coordinator John Morton, but St. Brown could fall a few spots in the wide receiver ranks if that doesn't happen soon. He will look to rebound versus the Bears in Week 2.
