Waiver Hub – Week 8

Happy Tuesday October 22, Mike here, welcome back to my weekly Waiver HUB. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) for all things fantasy football throughout the season.

MNF last night ended with a Ravens victory over Tampa by a score of 41-31 with plenty of fantasy stats to go around but none more convincing than Lamar Jackson and his 5 TD passes. Some other notable stats include Mark Andrews scoring 2 times, Rashod Bateman had 121 receiving yards, king Henry ran for 169 rushing yards, Cade Otton had 100 receiving yards, and Baker threw for 370 yards. The other MNF game ended with a Cardinals victory over the Chargers by a score of 17-15. Justin Herbert threw for 349 yards and James Connor ran for 101 yards. Next week’s MNF matchup will be between the Giants and the Steelers.

It’s time to make some moves and prepare for fantasy post season greatness. Injuries are inevitable so here’s another chance to hit the waiver wire and get impactful players. Another week gone, another opportunity to make your team stronger and inch your way to that league trophy and an offseason of bragging rights.

Below are my top waiver wire priorities this week. Go get those available players to help your chances at a championship. Good luck this week and remember to check back every week to stay informed on who you could target off of waivers.

TOP PRIORITY OF THE WEEK

Tua Tagovailoa – Miami Dolphins

Tua is set to return to the field this week for Miami. He gets a rather soft schedule playing the Cardinals, the Rams, and the Raiders in 3 of his next 4 games. Tua is obviously injury prone, but when he plays, he can light it up. Tyreek Hill might be the happiest person next game knowing he has a QB that he has chemistry with and vastly improves with. Tua threw for 338 yards in his only full game this season. Tua can help your fantasy team if you have the room on your bench or need a starting QB immediately.

Quarterbacks

Drake Maye – New England Patriots

Maye has thrown for over 500 passing yards and 5 passing TDs in his first 2 career starts with the Patriots. He also has over 50 yards rushing. The road ahead is not looking any easier for the 1-win Patriots, but this team falls behind a lot and Maye will likely have to throw a lot to try to stay competitive.

Running Backs

Tyler Goodson – Indianapolis Colts

Jonathan Taylor has been out for 3 consecutive games and still has yet to return to practice. Enter Goodson. Goodson has slightly outplayed Trey Sermon in JT’s absence contributing both rushing and receiving. It doesn’t hurt to have Goodson on your bench adding depth and he is ready to go if JT is to miss more time.

Ray Davis – Buffalo Bills

After Davis ran for 97 rushing yards and caught 3 passes for 55 receiving yards in week 6, James Cook returned for the Bills limiting Davis. Davis only had 5 carries but he turned them into 41 rushing yards, and he scared a TD. It is clear Ray Davis will continue to get his chances in what could become more of a RBBC with both Davis and Ty Johnson contributing weekly.

Wide Receivers

Keon Coleman – Buffalo Bills

Amari Cooper to the Bills should give Coleman less volume, right? Well Coleman didn’t get the memo. Instead, he was targeted 7 times which tied Shakir for most this week, and he caught 4 of those to finish with 125 receiving yards. That is his 4th consecutive game with 4+ targets. Josh Allen have been spreading the ball around and Amari Cooper might just be allowing Coleman less attention defensively.

Jauan Jennings – San Francisco 49ers

Jennings did not play in week 7 but there is optimism that he will be ready to play in week 8. Brandon Aiyuk suffered an ACL/MCL injury and is going to have surgery that will end his season. Deebo Samuel tried to play through his illness just to leave the game almost immediately. Kittle is dealing with a sprained foot and Christian McCaffrey is still on the IR. So, Brock Purdy has to pass it somewhere and we have all seen what Jennings is capable of. He should easily be a top 3 target with all of these injuries moving forward.

Tight Ends

Hunter Henry – New England Patriots

Maye has been starting for the Patriots for a couple weeks now and Henry has been a beneficiary of that. Hunter scored his first TD of the season in week 6 and followed that up with a 92-yard performance in week 7. It is clear that Maye likes to get Henry involved and is almost like a safety net for the rookie QB. With Maye at QB I like Hunters chances to play consistently well moving forward.
