Waiver Hub – Week 9
Happy Halloween!! Mike here, welcome back to my weekly Waiver HUB. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) for all things fantasy football throughout the season.
Last night we saw the Raiders lose to the Lions by a score of 26-14. It would seem more lopsided had Goff not thrown an INT that got returned for 6. The big story here is the breakout for Jahmyr Gibbs. The talented young rookie caught all of his 5 targets for 37 yards, and he carried the ball 26 times for 152rushing yards and a TD. The Lions move to a comfortable 6-2 and have a BYE week to rest up before they play the Chargers in LA. The Raiders fall to 3-5 and play the Giants next. Raiders better get their offense going because 1 catch for both Jakobi Meyers and Davante Adams just isn’t enough. Next week’s MNF is a battle between the LA Chargers and the home team New York Jets. Chargers line is favored by 3 with an over/under of 41.5.
This week’s upcoming TNF game is the Titans visiting the Steelers. 3-4 Tennessee coming off a win over Atlanta while 4-3 Pittsburgh looks to get back to winning after a loss at the hands of Jacksonville. The line currently is -3 in favor of the Steelers and the over/under is 36. My prediction in this game is the Steelers win 16-10. Can’t imagine many fireworks going off with these offenses.
Go out and make some moves and prepare for fantasy postseason greatness. Injuries are inevitable so here’s another chance to hit the waiver wire and get impactful players. Another week gone, another opportunity to make your team stronger and inch your way to that league trophy and an offseason of bragging rights.
Below are my top waiver wire priorities this week. Go get those available players to help your chances at a championship. Good luck this week and remember to check back every week to stay informed on who you could target off of waivers.
TOP PRIORITY OF THE WEEK
Trey McBride – Arizona Cardinals
Trey had himself an awesome Sunday where he caught 10 of his 14 targets for 95 yards and a TD. McBride set career highs in each of those pass catching categories and should continue to get looks without Zach Ertz involved. Kyler Murray is supposed to make his awaited return in the weeks to come and that should only make McBride more appealing, but nonetheless still appealing since he has a connection with Dobbs now. Future is bright for McBride after his breakout performance.
Quarterbacks
Kyler Murray – Arizona Cardinals
Murray has yet to make his season debut, but it seems to be right around the corner. He was slated to play week 9, and still might depending on how practice goes this week. If he was to play this week, he would be going against a strong Cleveland defense, although they just lost to Seattle. The Cardinals should look like a better team soon as they get back Kyler, Connor, and already have a healthy Hollywood Brown. Murray has the tools now let’s see if he plays and how it goes. If he is available, he is a great stash just in case.
Sam Howell – Washinton Commanders
Howell loves to play Philadelphia. The Commanders always bring their best game, and it shows on the field and on the scoreboard. Howell ran for a career high 40 rushing yards when they met in week 4, and then threw a career high 397 yards and had 4 passing TDs to go along with it. Howell looks to be the guy Washington wants to build around and I can see why. Howell seems confident and he should with some of the weapons he has like scary Terry, Dotson, Samuel, etc.
Running Backs
Darrell Henderson Jr – LA Rams
Henderson and Freeman were the only RBs from the Rams that had an carries in week 8. Henderson had more carries than Freeman but less yards. Freeman also scored a rushing TD while Henderson was the only RB involved in the pass game catching all 3 of his targets for 54 more yards. Rams have a good matchup to run on Green Bay before their BYE week. You can add either RB for depth but if both are available, I would definitely lean toward Henderson.
Chubba Hubbard – Carolina Panthers
Hubbard has double digit carries in 3 of his last 4 games averaging over 14 carries per game in that time frame. Hubbard might out have made the most of his chances in week 8, but the Panthers get the Colts and then the Bears which is very ideal for opposing RBs. Miles Sanders had just 2 rushing attempts and didn’t receive a single target in week 8. Make sure to watch how they balance Hubbard and Sanders going forward.
Wide Receivers
Rashid Shaheed – New Orleans Saints
Shaheed had such a wild stat line in week 8 achieving 153 receiving yards. The wild part is that he only was targeted 3 times and caught all 3. 153 is his new career high and he gets the Bears and Vikings defenses next. Shaheed plays alongside Michael Thomas and Chris Olave which makes it even more impressive how he is 2nd on the team in receiving yards despite nearly half of the targets and receptions Olave and Thomas have. Rashid now has 3 games with over 85+ receiving yards and a TD.
Khalil Shakir – Buffalo Bills
Shakir led the way for Buffalo in week 8 recording 92 receiving yards and not missing any of his 6 targets. Those are career highs in targets, receptions, and receiving yards. Both Diggs and Davis has more targets and receptions, but the yards were led by Shakir. He is a 2nd year WR that might need to play a bigger role moving forward since the Bills have had some ugly games not even halfway through the season. Shakir will be playing the Bengals next which will be interesting to see if this was a fluke or a sign of things to come.
KJ Osborn – Minnesota Vikings
Kirk Cousins out for the rest of the season. Yikes. Well, it certainly isn’t great having to rely on a backup QB to get you the ball. KJ led the team in targets, receptions, and receiving yards in week. Justin Jefferson still has another week until he can return to the action making Osborn 1 of 3 promising pass catchers for Jaren Hall along with Jordan Addison and TJ Hockenson.
Tight Ends
Trey McBride – Arizona Cardinals

Jake Ferguson – Dallas Cowboys
Ferguson scored his 2nd TD of the season in week 8 in a win over the Rams. He caught all 4 of his targets for 47 yards. Jake has caught every target sent his way in his last 4 games. Dak clearly likes to get him the ball and it’s becoming clear if it isn’t already that he is a reliable pass catcher. He gets the Eagles in week 9 which isn’t so bad given you have to throw against Philly.
