Waiver Hub – Week 13

Happy Tuesday and welcome back to my weekly Waiver HUB! It’s time to hit the waiver wire and do what you can to improve your team moving forward. Mike Hubbard here, you can follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) for all things fantasy football throughout the season. Feel free to tweet me or message me with any comments or questions you might have regarding fantasy football.

Week 12 is history following a MNF win for the Steelers over the Colts. Steelers go to Atlanta next while the Colts travel to Dallas. Next week’s MNF game is a battle between Brady and the Bucs at home taking on the Saints.

Week 13 kicks off on Thursday with an AFC East game between the New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills. Both have over .500 records and are fighting for position in the division and into the playoffs. The Bills will be looking for their 3rd consecutive win over the Patriots but will have to do it @ New England. Bills are favored by 5 points with an over/under of 43.5. I like the Bills to win this game by a score of 26-24.

Regardless of your fantasy record you should always be ready to add and drop and be aware of waiver opportunities. Another week gone, another opportunity to make your team stronger and inch your way to that league trophy and an offseason of bragging rights.

Below are my top waiver wire priorities this week. Go get those hopefully available players to help your chances at a championship run. Good luck this week and remember to check back every week to stay informed on who you could target off waivers.

TOP PRIORITY OF THE WEEK

Deshaun Watson – Cleveland Browns

If Deshaun Watson I still available in your league and you have the roster room, he could be a league winning addition. The controversial QB is now available to play for the Browns and he gets to start this week against his former club. Revenge game on many levels. It has been a while since Watson played, but when he did, he was elite. In his 3 seasons following his rookie season, Watson had a minimum of 3,800 passing yards, 26 passing TDs, and 400 rushing yards in all 3 seasons. Houston has actually been good defending opposing QBs this season keeping great QBs in check. However, this game is personal, and Watson will want to make headlines that are about football and football only. I think Watson will be able to run and throw enough to lead the Browns to victory.  Dameon Pierce has had back-to-back subpar games so I think they will lean on Watson to a little bit of everything. Fire him up with confidence.

Quarterbacks

Running Backs

Kyren Williams – LA Rams

Kyren Williams has gotten a larger role in the mess of an offense that is the Rams currently. After the release of Darrell Henderson, the backfield consists mostly of Kyren Williams and Cam Akers. Kyren had 11 carries for 35 rushing yards and caught all 3 of his targets for 25 receiving yards. Kyren played 38 snaps compared to Akers 16. The Rams have a great schedule coming up for RBs including Seattle, Vegas, and Green Bay.

Zonovan Knight – New York Jets

Knight is an undrafted rookie that made his debut for the Jets on Sunday and ended up leading the team in carries and rushing yards. He finished with 69 rushing yards on 14 rushing attempts and contributed 34 receiving yards catching all 3 of his targets. Knight led all Jets RBs in snaps with 30 compared to 19 for Michael Carter and 15 for Ty Johnson. Knight made a positive impact on the Jets offense and that could continue next week in Minnesota.

JaMycal Hasty – Jacksonville Jaguars

Etienne might be completely fine and able to play again next week but if you need a RB Hasty can help your team, especially in PPR leagues. Hasty led the team with 12 carries and that accounted for 28 rushing yards. The real value comes in the pass game, Hasty caught all 5 of his targets for 67 receiving yards and a receiving TD. Hasty was 2nd in receiving yards for Jacksonville behind only Zay Jones. Keep an eye on Etienne and pick up Hasty if you have the room.

Wide Receivers

Darius Slayton – New York Giants

Slayton is the Giants top pass catcher for Daniel Jones to target. Slayton has 5 games with 6+ targets and has 58+ yards in each of his last 5 games. Giants take on Washington in 2 of their next 3 games which should bode well for Slayton. As good as Saquon Barkley is, he can’t do everything all the time and Jones will have to pass. Slayton is his best option and should get a good number of targets moving forward as long as he stays healthy.

Zay Jones – Jacksonville Jaguars

Zay Jones has 4 games this season with double digit targets and 2 games with double digit receptions. Last week was one of his best performances of the season. He caught 11 of his 14 targets for 145 receiving yards and even converted a 2-point conversion. Trevor Lawrence has thrown 6 TDs and 0 INTs in his last 3 games with at least 235 passing yards in each. Jones and Lawrence’s chemistry has been on full display, and they get to take on the Lions this weekend who allow the most points to opposing teams with just over 28 per game.

Treylon Burks – Tennessee Titans

Burks was on this list last week and is back on it this week so if he is still available, I suggest picking him up. He has 6+ targets in each of his last 3 games and a total of 181 receiving yards in his last 2 games. Burks will have a tough matchup with the Eagles secondary this weekend, but he should still be rostered as he is the top receiving option for the Titans currently. Burks is a week by week start/sit decision, but I would add him for security and as a streaming option.

Tight Ends

Foster Moreau – Las Vegas Raiders

Foster played 77 snaps against Seattle this past weekend which is 2nd most by any TE in a game this season. He has been on the field nearly 100% percent of the time and is the only TE on the team getting any production or opportunity. Moreau has scored a TD in 2 of his last 3 games. Although he averages just 3 receptions per game this season, TE production is hard to come by. He has a great matchup upcoming with the Chargers who give up a ton of yards to TEs. In week 1 when both teams first met, Darren Waller racked up 79 yards. Now it’s Fosters turn.

Evan Engram – Jacksonville Jaguars

Evan Engram has for sure struggled in his past few games, but he has a great matchup with the Lions this weekend like I already told you about with Zay Jones and JaMycal Hasty. The Lion’s defense is weak all around so most Jaguars including Engram have a great chance at elite production. Looking for a bounce back game for Engram Sunday.

Malik Washington caught all three targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' preseason Week 3 game against the Jaguars.
Washington was targeted on three of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's eight pass attempts from the first three drives of the team's final preseason contest, the final of which went for a nifty touchdown from 25 yards out. It was a simple crossing route on a quarterback bootleg, with Washington catching it in the flat before putting on the breaks and leaving his defender in the dust. The obvious caveat here is that both Tyreek Hill and DeVon Achane remained out of the lineup, but Washington has surely shown the same on-field connection with Tagovailoa this preseason that has been reported in camp, making him a viable late-round dart in best ball contests the rest of the way.
