Another Monday, another week of fantasy football! Hoping your fantasy team won over the weekend but even if you lost, I hope it was still a fun week. Now it’s time to prepare for the next week. Welcome back to my weekly trade HUB article. Stay positive and keep going regardless of record and get ready for week 6. Mike here ready as always to help you with trade suggestions that can help your chances of winning your fantasy league. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) for all things fantasy football.
We are closing out week 5 with a MNF showdown between the 2-2 Green Bay Packers and the home team 1-3 Las Vegas Raiders. Odds favor Vegas by 2 points and the over/under is currently set at 45.5. I think if Jordan Love can steer clear of Maxx Crosby, we will have a good game on our hands. Everything is set up for a nice Josh Jacobs evening, especially coming off his best game of the season. Davante Adams in primetime? Sign him up for a TD. Keep an eye on Christian Watson in this game and I like Musgraves as a sneaky pass catcher in this game as well. My prediction for this game is a green Bay Packers win by the score of 22-17. Next week’s MNF game is a clash between the Cowboys and the Chargers in LA.
It may only be week 6 but always make sure you’re aware if or when your league has a trade deadline. Try to sell and/or buy players with strategy and the use of your persuasion and negotiation skills. Here are some players to buy and sell before week 6 begins. Like I always say, one trade could be the difference in winning or losing your fantasy football league.
PLAYERS TO BUY
DeVonta Smith – Philadelphia Eagles
Smith had easily one of his worst performances in his young career. He was targeted 5 times but only caught 1 pass for 6 yards on the day. Jalen Hurts spread the ball around and really seemed to have emphasized getting the ball to Dallas Goedert. De’Andre Swift caught 6 passes himself and AJ Brown is always a threat. Smith had an uncharacteristic game so it’s a good time to pursue him if you can work out a deal. Much brighter days ahead for Smith.
Chris Olave – New Orleans Saints
Chris Olave has almost fallen off in the last 2 weeks after such an impactful dominant start to his season. After catching 24 passes in the first 3 weeks, he has only caught 3 passes in his last 2 full games. 3 catches on 11 targets for 16 yards and a TD. This is also very uncharacteristic like Smith above and should bounce back rapidly as he is arguably one of the best players on the offense. Chris still leads the team in targets and receiving yards despite his recent drop off. Find Olave’s manager and send him or her a trade request. Keep in mind the Saints won 35-0 and didn’t exactly need to throw much at all on the dismal Patriots.
Jake Ferguson – Dallas Cowboys
Ferguson had a pedestrian night while his team got destroyed by SF. Jake finished the game with 3 receptions for 28 yards. This is a good time to trade for the TE at a lower price than usual. Jake has caught every target he received in his last 2 games and is 2nd to only CeeDee Lamb in targets and receptions. Ferguson currently is sitting at 13th in fantasy points this season for TEs. He could be in for a nice outing in week 6 when he faces the Chargers in what looks to be a high scoring affair.
PLAYERS TO SELL
Zach Moss – Indianapolis Colts
Zach Moss could be a buy low or a sell high candidate in my opinion. The return of Jonathan Taylor was the headline before the game and Zach Moss changed those headlines to Jonathan Taylors back up steals the show. JT ran just 6 times in his return for 18 yards and caught a pass for 16 more yards. Meanwhile, Moss rushed 23 times for 165 yards and 2 TDs. Moss also caught both of his targets for 30 yards. So, do you want to sell him high as possible knowing JT is back to playing? Or would you rather attempt to buy him low in hopes this isn’t a 1-time performance. Moss is averaging 5 yards per carry and has the 3rd most carries and 3rd most rushing yards by any RB in the NFL this season.
DeAndre Hopkins – Tennessee Titans
D Hop had a great game catching 8 of his 11 targets and turning them into 140 yards. His best performance since week 1. He gets an average Baltimore pass defense next week and then has his BYE week. That being said, this is the right time to unload Hopkins if you’re able to and want to. He has 20 more targets than anyone on the team this season but then again it is the Titans who enjoy running the ball. The Titans are led by QB Ryan Tannehill who has a total of 2 passing TDs in 5 games. Hopkins has not scored and at this rate he might not have many at all this season. He might get some good volume, but it comes at a price and hopefully someone else will pay the price when you sell him high.
Kyle Pitts – Atlanta Falcons
Kyle Pitts had a good game? Kyle Pitts had a good game! He was targeted 11 times which is most this season for him, and he ended up catching 7 of them for 87 yards. Still no TDs but you can’t miss this opportunity to try and reel in some trade offers or better yet send some out. Only once in his young career had he been targeted 10+ times. This is Pitts 3rd season in the NFL, and he has scored a total of 3 TDs. Need I say more? Release the stress of owning Pitts and give the burden to someone else.
