Happy Tuesday and happy week 4 of football. Mike here, welcome back to my weekly Waiver HUB. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) for all things fantasy football throughout the season.
A wild week 3 has concluded and we now get another week of football and another opportunity for greatness. The Eagles beat the Bucs by a score of 25-11 and the Bengals edged out a victory over the Rams 19-16. Eagles get Washington next, Bucs go to the Saints, Bengals travel to Tennessee, and the Rams go to Indianapolis.
This week’s TNF game is one between the Lions and the Packers at Lambeau field. The over/under is currently set at 45 with the Lions being favored by 1.5. Feels like we will have a close game. Check out my START/SIT Hub on Thursday for more TNF info.
Go out and make some moves and prepare for fantasy postseason greatness. Injuries are inevitable so here’s another chance to hit the waiver wire and get impactful players. Another week gone, another opportunity to make your team stronger and inch your way to that league trophy and an offseason of bragging rights.
Below are my top waiver wire priorities this week. Go get those available players to help your chances at a championship. Good luck this week and remember to check back every week to stay informed on who you could target off of waivers.
TOP PRIORITY OF THE WEEK
De’Von Achane – Miami Dolphins
Achane had the game of his life in week 3 being a huge contributor in their 70-point performance that they won by 50. He led his team with 17 carries compared to Mostert’s 13 and Chris Brooks 9. De’Von ran for a whopping 203 yards and had 2 rushing TDs. If that weren’t enough already, he added 4 receptions for 30 yards and scored 2 receiving TDs. Achane scored 4 total TDs and the Dolphins have put the NFL on notice. Achane should be in line for some increased opportunity helping Mostert rush effectively. Dolphins get Bills next whose defense just went off against the Commanders. Should be a fun game to watch.
Quarterbacks
Russell Wilson – Denver Broncos
Despite being 0-3 already, Russell Wilson has played pretty well. 6 passing TDs and 2 INTs through 3 games. He has over 50% passing completions every game and I believe Marvin Mims Jr is exactly the type of player that can help Wilson get some great stats. Denver gets the Bears in week 4 who is also searching for their first win. Wilson should be in for a good game, especially if the Bears continue to lay down.
CJ Stroud – Houston Texans
The rookie CJ Stroud led his Texans team to their first victory of the year against the Jaguars in week 3. Stroud has been impressive for a rookie on a ‘bad’ team. CJ is averaging over 300 passing yards per game, has 4 passing TDs, and has yet to throw an INT. Stroud will make teams not take Houston so lightly. He might have some trouble with Pittsburgh’s defense who is playing well lately. The game is in Houston which helps. All 4 of Stroud’s TD passes have come in his last 2 games where he had 2 in each. CJ is also being strategic and spreading the ball around almost equally. Robert Woods, Tank Dell, and Nico Collins all have 15 receptions with receiving yards ranging from 165 to 260.
Running Backs
De’Von Achane – Miami Dolphins
SEE TOP PRIORITY TOP OF PAGE
Jaylen Warren – Pittsburgh Steelers
Warren might not have lit up the box score, but he did contribute to his team’s victory. The Steelers upset the Raiders in Vegas where Najee Harris had 65 rushing yards and Warren had 29. Harris had 11 more carries and averaged under 3.5 yards per rush. Warren may have only had 29 but he averaged just over 3.5 yards per carry. Not a big difference but the eye test shows Warren being the more impactful RB. Jaylen also contributed to the pass game catching 3 of his 4 targets for 23 yards. In fact, Warren has 12 receptions for 101 yards through 3 games. Houston won’t be a cake walk in week 4, but Warren should continue to make his way into a more reliable fantasy RB.
Tyjae Spears – Tennessee Titans
Spears numbers are quite dismal, but you have to pay attention to his snap counts and keep an eye on the success or lack there of for the king Derrick Henry. Neither back had more than 20 yards rushing but it doesn’t help that the Titans were playing catch up all game. Spears was slightly active in the pass game and is a special teams returner if you get those points in your leagues scoring. Spears out snapped Henry 27 to 17 out of a possible 47. The future could be bright knowing he is 2nd RB on the depth chart in Tennessee and Henry is turning 30 which in football years is a lot more. Let’s keep an eye on the situation next game against the Bengals.
Wide Receivers
Adam Thielen – Carolina Panthers
Andy Dalton stepped in for Bryce Young this past week and threw for 361 yards. 145 of those yards belonged to Adam Thielen. Since week 1 concluded Adam has played twice and combined for 23 targets, 18 receptions, 199 receiving yards, and 2 TDs. He is 33 years old but can clearly still help out a team. Panthers get the Vikings in week 4 which is great for Thielen. Minnesota gives up a lot of yards and scores. So far Andy Dalton has given Thielen his best stats but I like him with either QB moving forward.
Tank Dell – Houston Texans
Tank Dell has to be one of the hottest receivers in the last 2 weeks. He caught 7 of 10 targets for 72 yards and a TD in week 2 and followed that up with 5 receptions on 7 targets for 145 yards and another TD. The 3rd round pick played college ball in Houston making it all the more fitting he is at the next level in Houston making the best out of his chances. CJ Stroud and Tank Dell could be a lethal duo for years to come. Pittsburgh is up next who can play well but also leave you scratching your head. Tank Dell and Nico Collins are proving to be a lot to handle for opposing defenses.
Josh Palmer – LA Chargers
Josh Palmer will hopefully be getting more attention on offense with the recent news of Mike Williams being out for the remainder for this football season for the Chargers. Josh has increased his targets, receptions, receiving yards, and TDs in each game he has played this season. Most recently was 4 receptions on 7 targets for 66 yards and a score. Josh Palmer and Quinten Johnston are the two primary beneficiaries to the Mike Williams news in my opinion.
Tight Ends
Sam LaPorta – Detroit Lions
Sam LaPorta continues to play well to start his NFL career in Detroit. The 2nd round TE from Iowa now has 5+ receptions in every game. He is another player where it seems he is getting better each week super quickly. In a game with limited TE success, Sam just demanded 11 targets which is more than most TEs on the entire season. He caught 8 of those 11 targets and turned them into 84 receiving yards and a TD. Only TJ Hockenson has more targets for TEs this season, but no TE has more receiving yards than LaPorta who is sitting at 186 yards.
Jake Ferguson – Dallas Cowboys
Ferguson is another TE worth monitoring. Jake caught his first TD on the young season in week 2 and has 18 targets though 3 games. Dallas gets New England next which I don’t think is a good matchup, but you can’t be sitting TEs with such potential. He hasn’t had a breakout game just yet, but you can almost feel it coming as long as Dak hits him with targets. I think Ferguson could end the week top 15 in fantasy TEs.
