NFL DFS: Thursday Night Football Showdown

TNF DFS Showdown
Giants at 49ers (-10.5)
O/U 44

If there was ever a night to play a Defense in the captain spot, this may be it.  The Giants are without Saquon Barkley and they are facing the best defense in the league. Of course, everyone will be thinking this way, therefore sticking to our guns and playing a WR or RB in captain might actually be contrarian tonight.

We have a massive 10.5-point spread in favor of San Francisco but only a 44 O/U point total.  This gives us implied totals of Giants 11.5 and 49ers 32.5. I think Vegas is telling us to play 4-2 and 5-1 lineups in favor of San Fran.

The game script I am going with tonight is the 49ers jump out to an early lead and they run the ball to eat time up as fast as possible. I don’t see any success for the Giants.

My Favorite Plays

Captain

RB, Christian McCaffrey – The 49ers shoulkd run a lot in this game. I expect them to have a comfortable lead for most of the game. My only concern will be do they rest CMC and allow Elijah Mitchell some carries.

WR, Deebo Samuel – With Aiyuck hurt and the game leaning towards a ground assault, Deebo may be a great contrarian play against the field. He is known for taking snaps in the backfield and is a master at short routes.

Flex

San Francisco DEF – I don’t see a scenario where the 49er defense will not be in every lineup I build. The Giants best player is out and the have an anemic pass offense. At a minimum, this defense should have 3-4 sacks and hold New York under 15 points.

QB, Brock Purdy – Purdy is efficient and secure with the football and should be able to manage this game methodically. They wont need to take a lot of deep shots, so expect short passess and runs most of the night.  Purdy is a safe play.

TE, Darren Waller – Daniel Jones will be running for his life most of the game, therefore I expect a lot of short passes to Waller and Matt Breida.

Bargains

Both Kickers

Elijah Mitchell – There is a chance that San Fran builds a large lead and they rest CMC. This makes a lot of sense to avoid injury and wear on the star RB. Mitchell didnlt even see the field last week, but if this game become lopsided you will see him taking some snaps.
