NFL DFS: Monday Night Football Showdown

Last night on Sunday Night Football we tied for 1st Place in the big $300,000 first-place tournament. Let’s see if we can continue the winning streak tonight on Monday Night Football.

The Line: Patriots -8.5 | O/U 40

This should be a low-scoring slugfest in Foxborough. New England is playing with a strong defense and an almost elite running game.  Chicago is rebuilding and just looks embarrassing at times. I think New England will run the ball against a below-average Chicago run defense and will shut down Chicago’s running game to force Justin Fields into passing.

Captain/MVP Picks

Rhamondre Stevenson – RB, $16,200 (DK), $14,000 (FD)

Stevenson has firmly taken control of the Patriot backfield. Bill Belicheck has been touting the second-year back as a dual threat and his usage in the passing game (4 catches a game) proves this.  He has the best possible floor and ceiling in this game and therefore should be your Captain/MVP.

Also Consider: Damien Harris, Justin Fields

FLEX Picks

Damien Harris – RB, $8,400 (DK), $12,500 (FD)

I really believe New England will pound the ball 30-35 times in this game, making a Patriot dual RB stack very viable. Chicago has a pretty good pass rush, helping to minimize the chances Bill wants to take dropping his young QBs back.

Darnell Mooney – WR, $7,400 (DK), $11,000 (FD)

If I am correct in my game script, then New England will stop David Montgomery and force Chicago to pass. Mooney and Fields seem to have finally got on the same page and Mooney’s receptions and yards have been steadily increasing.

Justin Fields – QB, $10,400 (DK), $15,000 (FD)

Using the same justification as above, the Bears will have to throw the ball to have any hope in this game. Statistically, 80% of winning lineups contain at least one QB in Showdowns. With the game script I have selected, that means Fields should have the most attempts.

Also Consider: Devante Parker, Tyquan Thorton

Value Picks

New England Patriots – D/ST, $5,600 (DK), $10,000 (FD)

The Patriots’ defense has allowed just 42 points over its last 3 games. The Bears are turn-over-prone and are averaging just 15.5 points per game.  This is a must-play for me.

Cole Kmet – TE, $4,800 (DK), $7,500 (FD)

This is strictly a salary saver, but the Bears will have to throw and Kmet should be good for 3-4 receptions and 30 yards.

Eagles waived QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
Even with the injury to Tanner McKee (thumb), the Eagles feel confident enough in their depth at quarterback to let Thompson-Robinson hit the waiver wire. It's certainly feasible that the team could bring back DTR on the practice squad, but it's just as likely that he'll be looking for a new organization.

Bears placed CB Terell Smith on injured reserve with a knee injury.
We already knew Smith would miss the 2025 season, but this move makes it official. It's a terribly unfortunate development for the talented former fifth-round pick. The Bears waived LB Swayze Bozeman, OL Chris Glaser, TE Thomas Gordon, S Mark Perry and DB Jeremiah Walker.
