Welcome back to my weekly trade HUB article and happy Monday! Hope you had a great weekend and an even greater fantasy performance. Week 6 is ending tonight following MNF. The 2-3 Denver Broncos take on the 3-2 LA Chargers in primetime. The over/under is currently set at 45.5 and the spread favors LA with -4.5. Hopefully the Denver Broncos get some offense going and we have a good game. I like Denver to cover tonight with a solid performance by their defense. A lot of this game will be determined by the play of Russell Wilson. Will he be the QB that won a super bowl ring or the QB that has a losing record on his new team. My prediction is an LA win by a score of 24-20.
Still time to get strategic and use your persuasion and negotiation skills out in the fantasy football trade market. Here are some players to buy and sell before week 7 begins. Like I always say, one trade could be the difference in winning or losing your fantasy football league.
PLAYERS TO BUY
Travis Etienne – Jacksonville Jaguars
Etienne is starting to look like the RB we all hoped for. In his last 2 games he has totaled 157rushing yards on 20 carries which is an average of nearly 8 yards per carry. Travis is also effective in the pass game catching 13 of his 18 targets for a solid 146 yards. Most people are high on James Robinson, but Etienne is gaining momentum and even outperforming Robinson. I can see Etienne continuing to at the minimum split time with Robinson which should lead to even more production if he continues to play well. Robinson is injury prone as well so if he were to get hurt or miss any time Etienne would be a huge asset to your fantasy team. Buy him low if you can.
Tee Higgins – Cincinnati Bengals
Higgins caught 6 of his 10 targets for 47 yards against the Saints yesterday. Tee missed week 5 but has played in all other games. This is a rather difficult buy low target, but he is well worth it. Higgins is a great complimentary piece with Ja’Marr Chase. Chase also was targeted 10 times but caught 1 more than Higgins and had 132 receiving yards and 2 TDs. Both WRs are capable of huge performances. Take the fact that Higgins had only 47 yards and persuade that Higgins owner you got a deal for them. Could also use the sales pitch that he isn’t completely healthy.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire – Kansas City Chiefs
Clyde has struggled recently posting just 33 rushing yards with no targets in week 6 and prior in week 5 he had just a total of 35 yards. Clyde may be declining in fantasy recently but that doesn’t mean he will continue to struggle. The Chiefs offense has been unpredictable with all the options Mahomes has. He leads all Chiefs RBs in every statistical category both rushing and receiving. This is a good time to send some offers to that CEH owner. The Chiefs have a tough matchup with San Francisco next week followed by a BYE, but after that the schedule looks favorable for CEH.
Diontae Johnson – Pittsburgh Steelers
Diontae is not having the year he was hoping for after his fantastic 2021 season. Although being targeted heavily through 6 weeks he has averaged under 50 receiving yards per game and has yet to score a TD. This is a good time to buy Johnson at a low price if you think he can turn things around for the better. All the attention is on Claypool after week 6 so this might be the best time to offer some trades to buy low. In my opinion and clearly the same opinion as the Steelers, Pickett is the QB1 for Pittsburgh which is an upgrade from Mitch Trubisky which should only help Johnson. However be warned Pickett might miss week 7.
PLAYERS TO SELL
Kyle Pitts – Atlanta Falcons
Pitts has struggled this season and is failing to live up to his potential as the 4th overall pick in last year’s NFL draft. He only has one game with over 25 receiving yards and has a total of just 13 receptions in the 5 games he’s played in. Pitts found the endzone yesterday giving some owners hope but I would use that TD and sell Pitts high for a more consistent offensive player. Pitts isn’t in the top 20 TEs in fantasy this season. The Falcons have a rather easy schedule remaining and Pitts might not be relied upon given Atlanta’s RBs are going to be healthy soon. See if you can unload Pitts based off his recent TD and the hype that had come with his name out of college.
David Njoku – Cleveland Browns
Njoku is having a decent season thus far, for TEs at least. He is currently in the top 10 for TE fantasy scoring and is averaging 57 yards per game. The TE position is starting to get a little crowded in Cleveland with both Harrison Bryant and Pharaoh Brown. David had a 33-yard reception in the first quarter yesterday which accounted for over half of his receiving yards on the day. Njoku could continue his good start this season but I’m thinking he has peaked. I would sell him as high as you can preferably to someone with TE needs.
Robert Tonyan – Green Bay Packers
Tonyan had his best game of the season yesterday catching 10 of 12 targets for 90 receiving yards. Prior to week 6 Tonyan had only 1 game with more than 4 receptions and was averaging just 25 receiving yards per game. The Packers couldn’t establish a solid run game which is unusual for the Packers dynamic duo of Jones and Dillon. That opened looks for Tonyan and he took advantage of them. I believe the RBs will get it going again and be more effective moving forward. Rodgers can still be the guy and throw often and accurately, but one good game would most likely be an overreaction moving forward. I would sell Tonyan high as you can after his double-digit targets and 90-yard performance.
Chase Claypool – Pittsburgh Steelers
Claypool had a great day in Pittsburgh yesterday when the 10-point dogs beat Brady and the Bucs. If you’re like me, you dropped Claypool weeks ago based on his stats and usage on a poor offense with bad QB play. Through the first 4 weeks Chase had 11 receptions for only 79 yards. In the last 2 weeks he racked up 12 receptions for 146 receiving yards and scored a TD. Claypool caught all 7 of his targets yesterday and almost hit 100 receiving yards. Pickett might be gaining chemistry with Chase which is a great sales pitch to sell him high. Take advantage of the last 2 performances by Claypool in hopes of an upgrade at any position.
