Waiver Hub – Week 10

Mike Hubbard Jr here, welcome back to my weekly Waiver HUB. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) and Instagram (@fantasyhubbard) for all things fantasy football throughout the season. Feel free to tweet me or message me on either social media with any comments or questions you might have regarding fantasy football.

Week 9 has ended and week 10 starts Thursday with a matchup between the Ravens and Dolphins in Miami. Both teams are coming off wins and will want to keep momentum on their side. As we have seen recently, any given Sunday is an ongoing theme. Luckily for Lamar and company it’s a Thursday and not a Sunday. The Ravens should be able to hold their own in this one. Even if Miami puts up points, you can’t count out the Ravens until the game is officially over. The line is currently 7.5 in favor of the Ravens with a 46.5 over/under. This game has Lamar Jackson dominance written all over it. My bold prediction in this game is a Ravens win by a score of 34-21. Lamar gets 225+ passing yards, 2 passing TDs, and 75+ rushing yards.

It’s Tuesday which means it’s that time to hit the waiver wire. Another week gone, another opportunity to make your team stronger. Below are my top waiver wire priorities this week. Go get those available players to help your chances moving forward. Good luck this week and remember to check back every week to stay informed on who you could target off of waivers.

Quarterbacks

Teddy Bridgewater – Denver Broncos

Teddy and the Denver Broncos are coming off a huge upset victory over the Cowboys in Dallas. He threw for 249 passing yards, had 1 passing TD, and got his first rushing TD of the season. Bridgewater has been very efficient in the pass game recording a QBR of over 100 in 5 games this season including his last 2 games. His lowest QBR this season was 76 in a game against the Ravens in week 4. Teddy now has 14 passing TDs and has Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, and Tim Patrick all healthy and making plays.

Mike White – New York Jets

Mike White had 400+ passing yards and 3 passing TDs in week 8 in his first career start against the Bengals. He followed that up with another start against the Colts but unfortunately got hurt and remained sidelined. While he was in, he threw for 95 passing yards and 1 TD. The guy has confidence and a demeanor that gets his players going. If it was my choice, I would start Mike White over Zach Wilson in week 10 and take it from there. Pay close attention to the Jets QB news this week. Buffalo isn’t an ideal week 10 opponent, but that just means he will probably have to throw a lot to keep his guys in it. After week 10 he gets Miami, Houston, and Philadelphia if he stays healthy and is QB1. Sneaky player that has shown he can play big.

 Running Backs

Rhamondre Stevenson – New England Patriots

Stevenson made the most of his week 9 opportunities after Damien Harris got hurt. He ran for 62 rushing yards on 10 carries and also had 2 receptions for 44 receiving yards on 2 targets. Rhamondre also left the game in the 4th quarter due to a head injury. Monitor the RB situation in New England this week closely. If Damien Harris is to remain sidelined and Stevenson is good to go, his value is sure to rise. A bit risky on the waiver wire this week but could pay off. If Harris is hurt and so is Stevenson for week 10, Brandon Bolden and JJ Taylor will get a nice bump up in their workload.

Jordan Howard – Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles seem to have taken the hint that running the ball is very beneficial to them. They started the year throwing most of the time and gave Miles Sanders a few carries here and there but not many. Miles Sanders gets hurt and goes on IR so of course the Eagles decide to start running a lot more. Kenneth Gainwell was the guy, or so we thought, until both Boston Scott and Jordan Howard got most of the carries and TDs. Based off the last 2 games, it seems like a RB by committee is the case in Philly. I like Jordan Howard, Boston Scott, and Kenneth Gainwell in that order. Howard has the most carries the last 2 weeks and has 3 rushing TDs.

Wide Receivers

Elijah Moore – New York Jets

Elijah Moore finally had a breakout performance in week 9 against the Colts. He went for 7 receptions for 84 receiving yards and 2 receiving TDs on 8 targets. He has 6 or more targets in each of his last 3 games. It appears to me that Mike White is playing a key role in Moore’s success. Buffalo is going to be tough on the Jets offense this week but if Mike White starts, Moore should have a better shot at production. I would get Moore on my team even if he is on my bench in week 10.

Rashod Bateman – Baltimore Ravens

Rashod Bateman is a great WR to have on your team moving forward. It has been 3 weeks since he made his NFL debut and if he is still available in your league you should snatch him up. Bateman has had at least 6 targets in all 3 games he’s played in. Lamar Jackson clearly likes Rashod enough to give him all these looks. Bateman has yet to find the end zone, but it feels like it’s only a matter of time. The Ravens get a juicy matchup against the Dolphins this week which could bode very well for Bateman. I would roster him and start him in week 10, especially if Sammy Watkins doesn’t play.

Tim Patrick – Denver Broncos

Tim Patrick has been playing well. His week 9 performance against the Cowboys was his best game of the year. He caught 4 of his 5 targets which resulted in 85 receiving yards and a TD. Jerry Jeudy has returned from injury, but that hasn’t affected Patrick’s production. Tim’s a deep ball target who has made it clear he is a threat to score on any play. He is top 20 in yards per catch this season with an average of 15. In the past 2 weeks, Patrick has led the team in receiving yards and is the only WR to catch a TD. The ceiling is starting to rise for Patrick making him worth rostering.

Donovan Peoples-Jones – Cleveland Browns

Peoples-Jones may have only caught 2 of his 3 targets this past weekend but those 2 receptions got him 86 receiving yards and a TD. OBJ is no longer a Brown, making DPJ his replacement. The Browns are a run heavy offense, but Baker Mayfield can still throw and he’s going to try to prove he wasn’t the problem in regard to OBJ’s comments and reason for leaving. Donovan’s last 3 games played resulted in 257 receiving yards and 3 receiving TDs. DPJ is worth stashing on your bench so you can utilize him in favorable matchups.

Tight Ends

Dan Arnold – Jacksonville Jaguars

Dan Arnold has quickly become a reliable TE in fantasy football. He had 4 receptions for 60 receiving yards on 7 targets in week 9 against a terrific Bills defense. In Arnolds last 4 games he has a total of 30 targets and 219 receiving yards. He has not scored this season but that’s mainly due to the fact that the Jaguars don’t score very often. The Jags have yet to surpass 23 points in any game this season. Trevor Lawrence hasn’t had a great start to his career in Jacksonville, but he has been relying on Arnold quite a bit for production.

Pat Freiermuth – Pittsburgh Steelers

Pat Freiermuth is showing great potential for the Steelers this year. He has 20 targets in his last 3 games resulting in 16 receptions for 145 receiving yards and 3 TDs. He has benefited a lot since the JuJu season ending injury. Big Ben has a gem in Freiermuth who seems to fit the Steelers TE position perfectly. Freiermuth and the Steelers have some good matchups remaining on their schedule. I would make Pat a priority this week, especially for those without a top 5 TE.

Christian Kirk expected to make season debut in Week 3
WR missed first two games with hamstring injury #Texans HC DeMeco Ryans on Christian Kirk and Braxton Berrios: 'Progressing very well, expect to get those guys back this week' (KPRC - Aaron Wilson) FF Today's Take: Kirk was supposedly having a very strong offseason before suffering his injury, so this should be a boost to the offense. He is one of the few receivers on the roster who has proven capable of getting open quickly against NFL corners as well, so his return could be part of what helps this offense get on track. The Texans are averaging 14 points and have yet to see a pass-catcher top 52 yards receiving.

Aaron Jones lands on injured reserve
Week 2 hamstring injury puts Jordan Mason in the spotlight The Vikings are placing starting RB Aaron Jones on Injured Reserve, knocking him out four games, per me and @TomPelissero. He has a hamstring injury. Jordan Mason now becomes RB1. Cam Akers is signing to the practice squad. (NFL Network - Ian Rapoport) FF Today's Take: Jones will not be eligible to return until Week 8 because of Minnesota's Week 6 bye. While Akers will almost certainly find his way into a few carries, the Vikings traded for Mason this offseason with an eye on him complementing Jones for as long as the 30-year-old could stay healthy and featuring him if he was unable to avoid injury. Minnesota's offense is in a world of hurt right now, but it seems quite likely that the Vikings will lean heavily on the run with Carson Wentz replacing J.J. McCarthy (ankle) for at least the next couple of weeks.
