Start/Sit Hub Week 7 – Fantasy Football Blueprint

Happy week 7 of the 2025 NFL season! Welcome back to my weekly Start/Sit Hub! Mike here, providing you with information that can help you win your fantasy league week in and week out.

The TNF game this Thursday is between the 4-1 Steelers and the 2-4 Bengals. The game is in Cincinnati with the Steelers being favored by 5.5 and the total points over/under is currently 43.5. Can DK continue his hit streak, or will Ja’Marr Chase take over the game? My prediction is a 27-26 win for the Steelers.

I am here every week during the fantasy football season with start and sit suggestions that can impact your team each week. My decisions as always include obvious and not so obvious picks. I would also like to clarify that my sit suggestions are based on the assumption you have or can add a player that has a better chance at success. TNF START/SIT

Start – DK Metcalf – It was a toss up between Ja’Marr Chase and DK Metcalf in this spot because they have both been great. Chase has over 200 yards and 3 TDs in his last 2 games and DK has 4 consecutive games with a TD and has over 200 yards in his last 2 games. I could see both stud WRs having excellent week 7 performances.

Sit – Jonnu Smith – I love to see Smith play and succeed but he has not been fantasy viable since week 1. Since his 6 target and 1 TD performance in week 1, Jonnu has not exceeded 4 targets in any game, and he has only 24 yards total through his last 2 games. The Steelers have a crowded TE room as it is with Smith, Freiermuth, and Washington.

Jerry Jeudy (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
This is likely just a bit of maintenance for the veteran receiver. Jeudy led the league in routes last year and is on pace to do so again. He should be good to go by the end of the week. Jeudy led the Browns with 13 targets in Week 6 but turned them into just five grabs for 43 yards. He is falling into the WR4 ranks heading into his Week 7 date with Miami.

Bengals TE Tanner Hudson (concussion) will not play in Week 7 against the Steelers.
Mike Gesicki was placed on injured reserve earlier this week, meaning Noah Fant is now the only tight end of note available for the Bengals tomorrow. Expect Joe Flacco to lock on to his start receivers versus Pittsburgh, but Fant is at least in the TE2 mix as a player who could approach a 100 percent route rate.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said TE George Kittle (hamstring) will return to practice today as a limited participant.
This is great news. No word yet on whether the team expects Kittle to play this week, but his return to practice confirms that he is getting close. It is highly unlikely that he was dropped in fantasy leagues during his time on injured reserve, but double-checking his status is certainly worthwhile. The veteran tight end will immediately resume elite TE1 status the moment he retakes the field.

Bengals EDGE Trey Hendrickson (hip) is questionable for Week 7 against the Steelers.
Hendrickson did not practice once this week before receiving the questionable designation. That makes it rather unlikely he suits up for Thursday's game, though it's possible he was getting as much rest as possible before attempting to suit up. His snaps will be limited at best, though Hendrickson is the type of player who can do a lot of damage on just a few reps. The good news is that fellow Cincy EDGE Shemar Stewart has been cleared for action. He has been out since Week 2 with an ankle injury.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said QB Brock Purdy (toe) will return to practice today as a limited participant.
Purdy re-injured his toe in Week 4, suiting up after just one full practice session that week. While today's limited session is a step in the right direction, it is likely the 49ers will take a more conservative approach this time around. It is, of course, possible that he is active for the 49ers' Week 7 game against the Falcons, but it would be unsurprising to see him sit out another week. Stay tuned.
