Welcome back and happy Monday. It’s time to talk trades in my weekly Trade Hub article. Mike here ready as always to help you with trade suggestions that can help your chances of winning your fantasy league. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) for all things fantasy football.
Week 2 is finishing up tonight in Philadelphia with a matchup between the 0-1 Atlanta Falcons and the 1-0 Philadelphia Eagles. The over/under is currently 45.5 with the Eagles favored by 5.5 It seemed the line moved a point after the AJ Brown inactive news. The Falcons will go as far as Kirk Cousins will take them and his primetime history isn’t a good one. Bijan Robinson should get a hefty workload in this game and will be a big factor in tonight’s outcome. This will be Saquon’s first game in Philly as an Eagle after his 3 TD performance in Brazil. We should be in for a good game under the lights. My prediction for MNF week 2 is an Eagles win. Even without AJ Brown, the Eagles have weapons all around that should be able to outpace Atlanta. Will 3 TD or 3 INT Kirk Cousins show up? Can DeVonta Smith and other pass catchers fill the hole that AJ Brown leaves open? Will Saquon or Hurts get goal line touches? I’m going with a core of 27-23 in favor of Philadelphia.
It’s still very early in the season, but always make sure you’re aware if or when your league has a trade deadline. Try to sell and/or buy players with strategy and the use of your persuasion and negotiation skills. Here are some players to buy and sell before week 2 begins. Like I always say, one trade could be the difference in winning or losing your fantasy football league.
PLAYERS TO BUY
Travis Kelce – Kansas City Chiefs
Kelce owners have gone through it week 1 and week 2. After a 3 catch with 34 yards performance to start the season, he finished week 2 with just 1 reception for 5 yards and a rush for 1 yard. Now that looks terrible in the box score but there is reason to keep and/or trade for Kelce. He had a big 40+ yard catch that was called back and was just a yard short of scoring his first TD of the season. Isaiah Pacheco is going to miss time with his injury so even more reliance will be on Kelce. I believe Kelce is still going to have a great year and his stock might not be this low much longer.
Sam LaPorta – Detroit Lions
Sam LaPorta managers are in a similar situation as Kelce managers. LaPorta is coming off 2 receptions on 3 targets for just 13 yards. Through 2 games he has 6 receptions for 58 receiving yards. Lions’ offense isn’t firing on all cylinders making me believe Sam will have to get more involved. Good things happen when he gets the ball as we saw last season. LaPorta is still that top 5 TE drafted early in fantasy drafts. Go send some buy low offers to that panicking LaPorta owner.
Zack Moss – Cincinnati Bengals
Moss and the Bengals are 0-2 and struggling. That being said, Moss has been the undeniable RB1 in Cinci rushing 21 times this season compared to next best RB Chase Brown with 7 carries. The Bengals next 2 opponents are Washington at home and a road game in Carolina. Those are 2 great matchups for an offense that is starting to get it together. I believe Moss is a good buy low candidate.
PLAYERS TO SELL
Jonathan Taylor – Indianapolis Colts
Now is a great time to sell Jonathan Taylor sky high. He scored a TD in week 1 and rushed for 103 yards in week 2. He played 29 snaps in week 2, but Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson combined for 27 of their own. The questions that come up are: Will Taylor stay healthy and play the majority of the season? Will the Colts stay competitive to the point where JT will have a lot of volume? Are you willing to depart from the star RB?
Devin Singletary – New York Giants
Singletary scored a TD in week 2 and ran for 95 yards. Perfect time to sell the RB as high as you can. Not only is he on a team who so far is averaging 12 points per game, but Daniel Jone is well… Daniel Jones. He might be a bad passer a lot of the time, but his legs help him and that can take away from Singletary. Not to mention the Giants next few opponents are Cleveland, Dallas, and Seattle who should all have a good chance at stopping the giants run game.
Quintin Johnston – LA Chargers
Quintin Johnston is playing well with what he has to work with. Justin Herbert is looking mediocre, and the Chargers are focusing on a run heavy approach to their offense. Johnston did score 2 TDs this week, but was the opponent being Carolina have a lot to do with that? Judgement call but if I’m a Johnston owner I would be sending out some bait to try and land a bigger fish.
