NFL DFS: Thursday Night Football Showdown – Falcons at Panthers
The Line: Falcons -2.5 | O/U 41.5
The weather forecast for tonight’s game is heavy rain and high winds. Usually, I don’t worry about this but this is the remnants of Hurricane Nicole and it sounds pretty bad. It really doesn’t change my captain pick but it helps reinforce its value. Also, neither of these teams has much of a passing game, so…

Captain/MVP Picks
Cordarrelle Patterson, ATL – RB
Atlanta averages the fourth-most rushing yards (162.9) per game and the Panther’s defense is giving up the fifth-most rushing yards (139.3) per game. Both Falcons running backs are in play but Patterson is more dynamic and may get a few more targets in the rain.
FLEX Picks
Tyler Allgeier, ATL – RB
With Patterson back last week, the rookie running back led the team with 99 rushing yards on 10 carries and a 24-yard reception. I expect this trend to continue especially in the rain.
D’Onta Foreman, CAR – RB
Foreman has a tough time last week when the Panthers got destroyed by Cincinnati, but I expect a bounce back tonight. Even with Chubba Hubbard returning from injury I expect Foreman to be the lead back and with the weather, he should get extra carries.
Marcus Mariota, ATL – QB
I don’t think this will be a high-scoring game, Mariota gives us some upside with his rushing ability. He is completing 62% of his passes and rushing for 30 yards a game. The passing game should be shortened to high-percentage routes and I can see him rushing for 50 yards against this defense.
D.J. Moore, CAR – WR
Atlanta’s defense routinely gets torched by Wide Receivers, including Moore just a couple of weeks ago. I do expect passing to be down in this game, but Moore will be the primary target when the Panthers fall behind to the Falcon’s ground game.
Value Pick
Atlanta Defense
I like this play with P.J. Walker starting, (love it if Baker comes in) and Atlanta’s defense does have some big-play ability as shown by their three defensive touchdowns.
