Start/Sit Hub Week 2

Happy week 2 of the 2025 NFL season! Welcome back to my weekly Start/Sit Hub! Mike here, providing you with information that can help you win your fantasy league week in and week out.

Week 2 begins with Thursday Night Football in Green Bay where the Packers will face the Washington Commanders. Both teams have a 1-0 record and will look to stay undefeated. The Packers are currently favored by 3.5 points with an over/under of 48.5 total points. Both teams won week 1 by double digits, although the Giants and the Lions are not very comparable opponents. I am expecting a hefty dose of Josh Jacobs for the Packers and a hefty dose of Jayden Williams scrambling and making plays to keep his team in the game. I predict a closer game than most imagine. Give me Packers to win by a score of 30-28 with TDs by Jayden Daniels and Josh Jacobs. Should be a good battle on Thursday.

I am here every week during the fantasy football season with start and sit suggestions that can impact your team each week. My decisions as always include obvious and not so obvious picks. I would also like to clarify that my sit suggestions are based on the assumption you have or can add a player that has a better chance at success. Good luck this week and continue to check out my weekly articles.

TNF START/SIT

Start – Josh Jacobs – Josh Jacobs had a decent week 1 getting 19 carries for 66 rushing yards and a rushing TD. He also added a catch for 4 receiving yards. Washington held the Giants RBs to a total of 30 rushing yards, but Josh Jacobs should have better luck running with a better O-line and better overall offensive team. Jacobs does not have competition for carries so a hefty number of carries should be in store for Josh against the Commanders.

Sit – Either D/ST – Both teams are capable of putting up big offensive numbers, especially in a primetime game in Green Bay. Both defenses are not in a great position, however I would start Green Bay over Washington. Lots of offensive star power in this one.

Come back in the coming days for the rest of week 2’s START/SIT picks.

Recent News

Aaron Rodgers said experienced back tightness in Week 1 against the Jets.
Rodgers said he "wasn't moving that well" and ended up running into a "at least one or two sacks" because of it. Rodgers adds that his offensive line's pass protection "was good for most of the game." At 41 years old, back tightness can be expected. We do not think this is anything to worry about, but it's worth keeping an eye on the injury report just in case.

Eagles RB Will Shipley (ribs) did not practice Wednesday.
Shipley suffered a rib fracture in Week 1 against the Cowboys and appears set to miss at least a few weeks. The Eagles traded for Tank Bigsby earlier this week. Though some reports have indicated the move was based on Bigsby's abilities as a returner, it's a little harder to buy that explanation with Shipley likely on the sidelines for a bit. Bigsby will occasionally give Saquon Barkley a breather, but he doesn't carry any fantasy value of his own.

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said LT Christian Darrisaw (knee) will "continue ramping up work" this week.
O'Connell said S Harrison Smith (illness) will join Darrisaw in the ramp-up process. Smith has been dealing with some sort of health issue since late August and should not be considered a lock to suit up in Week 2. Darrisaw continues to rehab his ACL and MCL injuries from last year. Vikings LB Blake Cashman and RB Ty Chandler "will miss some time" after suffering injuries in Week 1. Both LB Andrew Van Ginkel and CB Jeff Okudah are in the concussion protocol.

Commanders WR Noah Brown (knee) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 2 against the Packers.
Brown played through the knee issue last week, running as the Commanders' WR3 versus the Giants. He was limited in his first two practices this week and was technically listed as a DNP on Wednesday. That, however, was a rest day for the veteran wideout. He is in play as a contrarian DFS option for Thursday's game but is not on the redraft radar.

Austin Ekeler (shoulder) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 2 against the Packers.
Ekeler popped up on the injury report with a shoulder issue earlier this week and was limited for all three practices. It looks like that was all maintenance as he doesn't have an injury status heading into Thursday's game. Ekeler earned six carries and three catches in Week 1, ceding 10 carries to rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt. Even a minor shoulder issue should keep a ceiling on how much work Ekeler sees, relegating him to the RB4 ranks for Week 2.
