Trade Hub – Week 9

Happy Monday and welcome back to my weekly Trade Hub article. Mike here ready as always to help you with trade suggestions that can help your chances of winning your fantasy league. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) for all things fantasy football.

The Monday Night Football we get this week is between the away team 2-5 New York Giants and the home team 5-2 Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh is favored by 6 points and the total over/under is a low 36.5. My prediction is this game is a 20-13 victory for the Steelers. I think the defense will be too much for Daniel Jones.

Always make sure you’re aware if or when your league has a trade deadline. Try to sell and/or buy players with strategy and the use of your persuasion and negotiation skills. Here are some players to buy and sell before week 9 begins. Like I always say, one trade could be the difference in winning or losing your fantasy football league.

PLAYERS TO BUY

Nick Chubb – Cleveland Browns

Nick Chubb carried the ball 16 times for 52 yards in week 8. It was clear he is the main RB in Cleveland because Pierre Strong Jr had no carries and D’Onta Foreman had just 5 carries. Chubb is worth trading for, but if you can wait a week or two it might be best. He has a strong Chargers rush defense up next and then the Browns get their BYE. Jerome Ford could interfere with some Chubb playing time when he returns, but that is one argument you can use to persuade Chubb’s owner.

Rhamondre Stevenson – New England Patriots

Stevenson got the majority of snaps in this game and had significantly more carries than next up RB Antonio Gibson. Stevenson ran 20 times for just 48 yards, but he found the end zone twice. Gibson rushed 5 times for a mere 6 yards. Rhamondre only averaged 2.8 yards per carry, but the volume is elite. Stevenson is a great player to trade for and have as fantasy playoffs get closer. It may be hard to trade for a player who scored 2 TDs in his last game so maybe wait a week to see how he does against Tennessee’s defense and maybe that will make him a lower buy option.

PLAYERS TO SELL

Dalton Schultz – Houston Texans

Schultz tied his season high with 4 receptions and turned those into a season high 52 receiving yards. That’s the good news. The more unfortunate news is that he may have led the TE’s in snaps, but it wasn’t by a lot and that number seems to be decreasing. He was rotating with fellow TE’s Cade Stover and Teagan Quitoriano. More unfortunate news is that the Texans play 4 consecutive games against defenses that are top 10 in defending opposing TEs. I would be looking to unload Dalton asap and the higher the better.

Michael Pittman – Indianapolis Colts

Pittman was targeted 6 times in week 8 but only caught 1 of those for 16 yards. He just can’t seem to get on the right page with Anthony Richardson who looked pretty terrible this past weekend. 2 of the Colts next 3 games are not ideal matchups for Pittman so if Flacco isn’t playing QB I would look to sell Pittman as high as you could while his play suffers with Richardson.

Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell said J.J. McCarthy suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 2's loss to the Falcons and is unlikely to play vs. the Bengals.
O'Connell said McCarthy came into the facilities on Monday sore with an ankle sprain and added that the team doesn't anticipate him playing in Week 3's game against the Bengals. McCarthy struggled again in his second career start on Sunday night against the Falcons, throwing for 158 yards and two interceptions while also taking six sacks and losing one of his three fumbles on the night. O'Connell has already said the team is preparing Carson Wentz to start on Sunday, suggesting McCarthy missing this week is all but a lock. We'll see if anything changes when the team's first injury report is released, but for now, we would expect to see Wentz into center into a game that is now the battle between backup QBs.
