Happy week 14 to all fantasy football friends. Today is Tuesday so keep grinding and let’s have a great week! Mike here, welcome back to my weekly Waiver HUB. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) for all things fantasy football throughout the season.
Week 13s MNF matchup was a game between the Jags and the Bengals. The Bengals went into Jacksonville and left with an OT win. The Jaguars were 10-point favorites but the Bengals showed no quit, especially Chase, Mixon, and Browning. The big story here was how Trevor Lawrence accounted for 3 total TDs just to get injured at the worst time possible. He left the game and so far, his sprain isn’t considered super serious. Lawrence might be set to miss a game or 2. Next week’s we get 2 MNF matchups: Dolphins (-14) against the Titans in Miami, and the Packers (-6.5) against the Giants in Jersey.
Go out and make some moves and prepare for fantasy postseason greatness. Injuries are inevitable so here’s another chance to hit the waiver wire and get impactful players. Another week gone, another opportunity to make your team stronger and inch your way to that league trophy and an offseason of bragging rights.
Below are my top waiver wire priorities this week. Go get those available players to help your chances at a championship. Good luck this week and remember to check back every week to stay informed on who you could target off of waivers.
TOP PRIORITY OF THE WEEK
Noah Brown – Houston Texans
Brown is a great add this week after the injury to Tank Dell in week 13. In a week full of injuries Tank couldn’t escape healthy leaving Nico Collins to have an epic stat line of 12 targets, 9 receptions, 191 yards, and a TD. Brown did play in that game but was only targeted twice with no catches to show for it. That was his first game back since returning from an injury. He should be a week healthier and, in a good position to produce immediately like he had in weeks 9 and 10. Brown is a homerun type of WR with CJ Stroud behind center. Only concern here is the Jets secondary, but they allow 21 points per game leading me to believe there are some holes to exploit.
Quarterbacks
Jameis Winston – New Orleans Saints
Winston came in for Derek Carr after getting injured late in Sunday’s loss to the Lions. Winston only threw 5 passes and 2 were caught for 41 yards. Carr has played rather bad this season below his expectations and is continuing to get banged up whether it’s his ribs, his shoulder, his head, etc. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Carr out next week when they take on the Panthers. Not a great matchup for Jameis, but if he starts, he is definitely worth a streaming add if you need someone this week.
Matthew Stafford – LA Rams
Stafford has been nothing short of brilliant in his last 2 outings extending the Rams winning streak to 3 games. Matthew has 7 TD passes and over 500 passing yards in those 2 games combined and looks to extend his great play this weekend against Baltimore. The Raven’s defense is no joke, but neither is the way Stafford has been playing. Puka Nacua is currently questionable after an AC joint sprain but is expected to play along with Kupp, Atwell, Williams, and its currently unknown whether Tyler Higbee will play or not after what appeared to be a possible concussion. Tough matchup in Baltimore but he is still a top 15 QB for me this week.
Running Backs
Ezekiel Elliot – New England Patriots
Zeke’s time may have finally come to have a solid outing for the Patriots. Rhamondre Stevenson is expected to miss multiple weeks after a high ankle sprain giving Zeke all the control in the backfield as long as he can stay healthy himself. Zeke is dealing with a thigh issue, but it doesn’t seem serious enough to keep him from being RB1 next week when they take on Pittsburgh. Elliot rushed the ball 17 times in week 13 for 52 yards and caught 4 of his 5 targets for 40 additional yards. Those are season highs for him in carries and in receiving yards.
Tyjae Spears – Tennessee Titans
This decision to add Spears is mainly contingent on Derrick Henrys injury. After initial fear, it appears Henry avoided a concussion and is currently questionable for week 14. Henry is really hitting his stride with 4 TDs in his last 2 games but given opportunity Spears can produce too. He handled RB1 duties for a bit after Henrys injury and finished the game with 16 carries for 75 yards and caught 4 of 6 passes for 13 yards. Will be interesting to see how Henry is this week, and if he is unable to go Tyjae easily becomes a top 20 RB this week.
Wide Receivers
Jayden Reed – Green Bay Packers
Reed had a pedestrian week 13 catching 4 of his 5 targets for just 16 yards. He has 4 receptions in each of his last 3 games and has 3 total TDs in his last 4 games. Christian Watson caught 2 TDs in week 13 and has 4 over his last 3 games but he is now dealing with a hamstring issue. If that sidelines him, Reed would be a solid pick up, especially against the Giants while Jordan Love is playing some of his best ball.
Elijah Moore – Cleveland Browns
Elijah Moore set season highs with 12 targets and 80 receiving yards last game when Amari Cooper was injured. Coop has a confirmed concussion leaving his week 14 status up in the air. While he may be able to play, Moore is healthy and will play. He also gets Jacksonville’s defense next that isn’t great against WRs. Moore is a solid add in the absence of Cooper.
Noah Brown – Houston Texans
SEE TOP PRIORITY OF THE WEEK
Tight Ends
Gerald Everett – LA Chargers
Everett caught 4 passes for 44 yards on 5 targets a week after he caught 4 passes for 43 yards on 4 targets. Everett is getting some looks lately and has 3 receiving TDs on the season. He gets a nice matchup with the Broncos who have been subpar defending opposing TEs lately. Great spot for a Chargers team who failed to score a TD against a bottom of the barrel Patriots team.
Brevin Jordan – Houston Texans
Brevin is in a situation like Noah Brown above. Brevin should see some uptick in his opportunities with the loss of Tank Dell. Dalton Schultz is TE1, but he is dealing with a hamstring issue. Jordan caught 3 of his 4 targets last week for 63 yards setting a new career high in receiving yards for the 3rd year man.
