Trade Hub – Week 5

Happy Monday! I hope your fantasy team and real-life football team got a W over the weekend but regardless I hope it was still a fun week and it’s time to prepare for the next one. Welcome back to my weekly trade HUB article. Stay positive and keep going regardless of record and get ready for week 5. Mike here ready as always to help you with trade suggestions that can help your chances of winning your fantasy league. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) for all things fantasy football.

Week 4 is concluding tonight with the MNF showdown between the 2-1 Seattle Seahawks and the 1-2 New York Giants. Giants are the home team, but Seahawks are currently favored by 2 with an over/under at 47. Barkley is doubtful so the main fantasy players to keep your eyes on tonight would be Daniel Jones, DK Metcalf, and Kenneth Walker III. Also worth following are Matt Breida, Tyler Lockett, Darren Waller, and Geno Smith. Since 2011, the Giants have only beaten the Seahawks once in 6 attempts. My prediction for this game is a 24-13 win for the Seahawks with contributions from Walker and Metcalf. I’m going to assume Daniel Jones will get some rushing yards in this one but put Walker down for a TD for me which will be too much for the Giants defense.

It may only be week 5 but always make sure you’re aware if or when your league has a trade deadline. Try to sell and/or buy players with strategy and the use of your persuasion and negotiation skills. Here are some players to buy and sell before week 5 begins. Like I always say, one trade could be the difference in winning or losing your fantasy football league.

PLAYERS TO BUY

Tyler Allgeier – Atlanta Falcons

Allgeier hasn’t been very good lately carrying the ball just 7 times in each of his last 2 games resulting in 12 yards and 16 yards. He can play in the pass game as well, but Bijan Robinson is clearly the guy for the Falcons rushing and receiving more times than not. If you take a look at the remaining schedule for the Falcons, there are a bunch of winnable games and Allgeier is more likely to come in with a lead. Buy Tyler very low if possible. If Bijan were to get injured or miss any time, the stock on Allgeier could boost through the roof.

Jerome Ford – Cleveland Browns

Ford is back on my buy low list again. The Browns have been using 3 different RBs lately including Kareem Hunt and Pierre Strong. Ford took 9 of the 19 rushing attempts by Browns RBs leaving 5 each for Hunt and Strong. This isn’t the greatest set up for a fantasy RB, but I can think of worse ones for sure. They have a BYE in week 5 but their schedule starts to become more rush friendly. Could possibly get Ford dirt cheap.

Deebo Samuel – San Francisco 49ers

Deebo cooled off significantly this week after scoring in his previous 2 games. Samuel didn’t register a single target and ran the ball 3 times for just 6 yards. Aiyuk is having a great start to the year and CMC is CMC, so Deebo is not exactly the go to guy. But, Deebo is still explosive when healthy and looking at the 49ers schedule there seems to be a very favorable schedule for Deebo especially later after their BYE in week 9.

PLAYERS TO SELL

Christian Kirk – Jacksonville Jaguars

Great game for Kirk in week 4 where he led his team in targets (12), receptions (8), and receiving yards (84). Kirk now leads the Jaguars in targets and receiving yards this season. Zay Jones didn’t play, and Calvin Ridley was covered all game by AJ Terrell opening up opportunity for Kirk. Although Kirk could certainly maintain this type of production, it’s a good time to sell him high. 2 of his 4 games he had 12+ targets which is a great selling point.

Adam Thielen – Carolina Panthers

Thielen played his former squad the Minnesota Vikings and ended up taking an L but I don’t think many are shocked. Thielen is a bright spot for the winless Panthers as he now had 3 games with at least 7 receptions and has 2 TDs in his last 3 games. Never know what Panthers are thinking if they want to bring in more help at WR, and if that happens Thielen is an even better candidate to sell high.

Dalton Schultz – Houston Texans

The former Cowboy TE had his best game on the young season yesterday with his new team. He only had 3 targets in the game, but he made most of them by catching all 3 and turning those receptions into 42 yards and a TD. This might be the best time to sell Schultz. Dalton seems to play more snaps when they are down, and the young Brevin Jordan could be on the rise despite the lack of playing time. Schultz has 10 receptions in 4 games for 89 yards and a TD. Schultz is sitting around 15th in fantasy points for TEs this season.

Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell said J.J. McCarthy suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 2's loss to the Falcons and is unlikely to play vs. the Bengals.
O'Connell said McCarthy came into the facilities on Monday sore with an ankle sprain and added that the team doesn't anticipate him playing in Week 3's game against the Bengals. McCarthy struggled again in his second career start on Sunday night against the Falcons, throwing for 158 yards and two interceptions while also taking six sacks and losing one of his three fumbles on the night. O'Connell has already said the team is preparing Carson Wentz to start on Sunday, suggesting McCarthy missing this week is all but a lock. We'll see if anything changes when the team's first injury report is released, but for now, we would expect to see Wentz into center into a game that is now the battle between backup QBs.
