NFL DFS: Thursday Night Football Week 2

As we enter Week 2 of the NFL Season, it is important to try not to overreact to team performance in Week 1. The new NFL has very little practicing and even less pre-season gameplay. Week 1 and even Week 2 are essentially pre-season now.

Vikings at Eagles (-6.5)

O/U 49

Philadelphia seemed to struggle in the second half of Week 1 against the Patriots defense, but this week they come back home to play a Vikings team that intentionally traded or released their best defensive players. The Eagles should learn a lesson about not sitting back and letting a team claw back. I still believe the Eagles’ offense is at the top of the NFC and the Vikings defense can be easily exploited.

On the Minnesota side of the ball, the offensive line did not look to improve much at all this year, but Justin Jefferson still got 9 receptions and 150 yards. He will face a better secondary this week, but he is the best receiver in football and he will get his receptions.

My Favorite Plays

Captain

QB, Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia spreads the ball across multiple receivers and running backs, making it difficult to pick which player will have a huge game. The safest play is to make Hurts the CPT of any Eagles stack. He will have a nad in all scoring and his running ability gives him a high ceiling.

WR, Justin Jefferson – As I mentioned above, Jefferson will be the focus of the Vikings offense. Expect Minnesota to be playing from behind and throwing a lot. If anyone is going to have a big game for the Vikings it will be Jefferson.

Flex

WR, AJ Brown – You could also play DeVlnta Smith here, but I think AJ Brown is a beast and he can take advantage of the Vikings secondary. If you are playing 20 lineups, swap Smith in a few, but this is the safest play.

TE, TJ Hockenson – Jefferson will be hard to roster if you roster AJ Brown and TJ is essentially the Vikings WR2. He doesn’t get much in YAC, but he runs strong routes and is a big red-zone target.

RB, DeAndre Swift – Kenneth Gainwell has been ruled out for this game, making Swift he defacto RB1. Swift’s best ability is catching the ball and making players miss at the second level. He is great to pair with Hurts at Captain.

Bargains

Eagles Defense

Both Kickers

Rashaad Penny – This is completely a punt play, but with Gainwell out, Penny should be active for this game. He is inconsistent but may be able to spring loose for a log score.
