NFL DFS: Thursday Night Football Showdown – Titans at Packers

The Tundra is frozen (not really they have a heated field) and the Titans are ready to run the ball against a bad Packers run defense. We have a low total of 42 for this game tonight as Vegas is expecting a slow, run-filled game. I expect a lot of running too, especially from Tennesee.

Captain/MVP

The Chalk: Derrick Henry, RB – Tennessee
This is the obvious choice and will be the most popular, but I think you take the chalk and differentiate in your flex spots. The Packers’ defense has allowed 140.6 rushing yards per game (26th in the NFL).

Contrarian: Allen Lazard, WR – Green bay
After a mediocre game and the emergence of Chris Watson, Lazard will go under-owned. I personally need to see Watson be more consistent before I roster a lot of him, so Lazard is my pick for the top GB receiver.

Flex Players

Game Script: Slow running based game
Aaron Rodgers, QB – Green Bay
Allen Lazard, WR – Green Bay
AJ Dillon, RB – Green Bay
Chig Okonkwo, TE – Tennesse

This will be my main build tonight, using Henry as my Captain/MVP. The Titans will try to run the ball and chew up the clock to keep Rodgers off the field. He is coming off a big game and will want to prove it was no fluke and will have to pass more to make up for all the time Derrick Henry uses up.

Game Script: Green Bay Passing Attack
Aaron Rodgers, QB – Green Bay
Chris Watson, WR – Green Bay
Derrick Henry, RB – Tennesse
Chig Okonkwo, TE – Tennesse

Aaron Rodgers has something to prove and may come out swinging. Using Lazard as our Captain we can roster both Green bay receivers and run it back with Henry.

Value Plays

Chig Okonkwo, TE – Tennesse
Mason Crosby, K – Green Bay

You will see Chig in both of my stacks above. He is only $2600 on DK and has 6 points per game in his last two. In this price range, 6 points are great. If he happens to sneak in a TD, bonus!

Recent News

D'Andre Swift (quad) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
This is the first we're hearing of a quad injury for Swift, though a limited practice to start the week is usually not a cause for concern. Even if Swift doesn't miss any time because of the injury, it could give head coach Ben Johnson a reason to increase the workload for rookie running back Kyle Monangai. Swift coughed up a fumble in Week 2 and is averaging a pedestrian 4.0 yards per carry despite the Bears' line looking vastly improved compared to 2024. Swift is still the top option in the Chicago backfield, but fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on this quad issue going forward.

Bears LB T.J. Edwards (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.
Edwards missed Week 1 with a hamstring injury but was good to go for Week 2's game against the Lions. This could just be maintenance, but a DNP on Wednesday is an ominous start to the week. The Bears are likely to be down multiple starting cornerbacks on Sunday as well. All signs point to both Chicago and Dallas scoring points with ease in their Week 3 matchup.

Bears CB Kyler Gordon (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.
Gordon missed last week's game with the same hamstring injury. The Bears also lost cornerback Jaylon Johnson to a season-ending injury in that contest, potentially leaving them severely undermanned in the secondary heading into Week 3. Expect Dak Prescott and the Cowboys to have no issues lighting up the scoreboard in a likely shootout with Chicago this week.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said it is possible that Brock Purdy (toe) could serve as the No. 2 quarterback in Week 3 against the Cardinals.
Purdy will be limited at Wednesday's practice, which typically puts players on track to play. Turf toe injuries must be treated carefully and take a while to fully heal, if surgery can be avoided. Purdy's limited participation still bodes positively for his availability in the coming weeks. He's worth stashing on benches for the time being.

Emeka Egbuka: Doesn't practice Wednesday
Egbuka didn't practice Wednesday due to hip and groin injuries.
