Waiver Hub – Week 5

TOP PRIORITY OF THE WEEK

Melvin Gordon – Denver Broncos

There’s a good chance he’s already rostered but I’ve seen him available in some of my leagues. He was already impacting Javonte Williams – we keep telling you Melvin Gordon isn’t dead – and now he’ll be the primary RB with Williams out for the season. We’d sure like a better team situation, but the role will be there.

Quarterbacks

Zach Wilson – New York Jets

All the other QBs are generally known entities at this point. Wilson also is to a degree, but we haven’t seen him with this full suite of weapons. He’s worth a shot if you’re stuck at QB. Flacco was passing a ton. I wouldn’t expect Wilson to routinely pass that much but there will definitely be spike games. You could also take a flier on Kenny Pickett, but expect growing pains.

Running Backs

Melvin Gordon – Denver Broncos

SEE TOP PRIORITY OF THE WEEK ABOVE

Tyler Allgeier – Atlanta Falcons

He was a sleeper at RB heading into the season but we’ve seen Patterson continue dominating the run game in Atlanta. Now we’ll get a nice stretch of games to see if Allgeier can show his potential and take a bigger share down the stretch. Either way, he should be a nice fill-in for an Atlanta team that is running a fair amount.

Nyheim Hines – Indianapolis Colts

We know what we’re getting here. He’s always been a capable fill-in on a run-first team. If he gets Taylors rushing workload and his own receiving workload, he’s a potential homerun. But Taylor’s injury isn’t as bad as originally thought, so Hines is likely just a rental.

Brian Robinson – Washington Commanders

He was a pre-season darling expected to be the RB1 for Washington, then he got shot. Antonio Gibson has done his best to keep his job, but there’s still a strong chance we see a transition to Gibson. This could also just turn into an ugly timeshare but he’s worth a stash now.

Wide Receivers

Michael Gallup – He’s back and Dak should be back soon as well. Smart owners may have added him already but if he’s out there, go get him. We haven’t seen the Cowboys at full strength yet and Gallup figures to be a big part of their plans.

Romeo Doubs – Green Bay Packers

If you told me a 4th round pick in the 2022 NFL draft out of Nevada was going to be the leading WR in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers through week 3 week 4 I would have thought you were crazy. But here we are. Doubs leads the Packers in targets, receptions, and receiving yards. Rodgers clearly has taken a liking to Doubs amongst the receivers he has. Aaron Rodgers will throw the ball as he is averaging 22+ completions each game. Doubs has caught all but 2 of his 16 targets. He had another nice game against New England and now they take on the defenses of the Giants, Jets, and Commanders.

George Pickens – Pittsburgh Steelers

With Pickett now starting, they should have that rookie-to-rookie connection developed already and we should start seeing more Pickens games like last week.

Tight Ends

Dalton Schultz – Dallas Cowboys

Not likely available, but if his owner panicked, pick him up. With Gallup back, and Dak returning soon, he should start seeing a lot more open opportunities.
