Waiver Hub – Week 4
Mike Hubbard Jr here, welcome back to my weekly Waiver HUB. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) and Instagram (@fantasyhubbard) for all things fantasy football throughout the season. Feel free to tweet me or message me on either social media with any comments or questions you might have regarding fantasy football.
Week 3 has ended and week 4 starts on Thursday with a matchup between the 3-0 Miami Dolphins and the 1-2 Cincinnati Bengals. Both teams are coming off wins and will want to keep the ball rolling. The line currently is -3 in favor of Cinci. The over/under is currently 47.5. My prediction is a 26-24 win for Miami, and they will most likely make it dramatic in the 4th quarter per usual. If Tua is okay to play after his concussion-like encounter in week 3, then I like Miami to stay perfect.
Fantasy football is well underway now so it’s time to make some moves and prepare for fantasy post season greatness. Injuries are inevitable so here’s another chance to hit the waiver wire and get impactful players. Another week gone, another opportunity to make your team stronger and inch your way to that league trophy and an offseason of bragging rights.
Below are my top waiver wire priorities this week. Go get those available players to help your chances at a championship. Good luck this week and remember to check back every week to stay informed on who you could target off of waivers.
TOP PRIORITY OF THE WEEK
Jamaal Williams – Detroit Lions
If you read my TRADE HUB article, then you already know Jamaal Williams is vulturing TDs and making the most of his opportunities. D’Andre Swift is most likely going to miss some time and Williams should directly benefit from this nicely. Williams will not only get goal line work, but he will be RB1 in Detroit and should put up Swift-like stats. Williams and the Lions get Seattle in week 4 who is allowing the 3rd most rushing yards to opposing teams this season. Williams is a great add and starter this week.
Quarterbacks
Trevor Lawrence – Jacksonville Jaguars
Lawrence has the Jags 2-1, and he is a great deal why. He threw 3 TDs against the Chargers in week 3 giving him 6 through 3 weeks while only throwing 1 INT. He also is averaging 250+ passing yards per game. He is utilizing the guys around him and spreading it out. He has made great connections with Zay Jones and Christian Kirk who are both new to the Jags this year. Lawrence is looking like a good QB option if you need help on that BYE week or need backup for injuries/insurance.
Running Backs
Khalil Herbert – Chicago Bears
Khalil simply went off in week 3 rushing for 157 yards and 2 TDs. He now has 3 TDs this season and could be getting a larger role since David Montgomery left week 3 with an injury and there is not a definitive answer as to if he will miss time or not. Herbert saw his opportunity and made the best of it against Houston’s defense. Herbert is 6th in the NFL in rushing yards with 240 and is averaging over 7 yards per rush. It will be interesting to see if he is used in the pass game more than the first 3 weeks now that Montgomery is a question mark.
Jamaal Williams – Detroit Lions
SEE TOP PRIORITY OF THE WEEK ABOVE
Alexander Mattison – Minnesota Vikings
Another year, another Dalvin Cook injury. Cook is considered day-to-day right now struggling with his shoulder. If you own Cook, I hope you had Mattison stashed on your bench assuming this could or would happen eventually. If he is still available, he is worth an add. There is no guarantee Cook will be limited in anyway, but if he misses time you can plug in Alexander. Whenever Mattison is RB1 he usually shows out and racks up points. Mattison and the Vikings take on the Saints this week who have surprisingly already given up over 400 rushing yards this season.
Wide Receivers
Zay Jones – Jacksonville Jaguars
When it comes to the Jags ariel attack this season it is the Kirk and Jones show. Kirk leads the team in targets with 27 but Jones leads the team in receptions with 19. Jones is coming off a week 3 win where he was targeted 11 times and turn that into 10 receptions for 85 yards and a TD. That is only the 4th time Zay had double digit targets in his career that began in 2017. If Trevor Lawrence can find his groove which it appears is progressing, Jones is a great addition to WR depth on your fantasy team.
Josh Palmer – LA Chargers
Josh Palmer is progressing every week and is on a pass heavy team. Justin Herbert is active even after his rib injury, so Palmer has a great QB throwing to him. Palmers targets, receptions, and receiving yards have all gone up every week thus far. He finished week 3 with 6 receptions for 99 receiving yards on 9 targets. Look for Palmer to continue getting better and take advantage of the matchup in Houston coming up. It has also been confirmed that Jalen Guyton tore his ACL and done for the season which is 1 less player to take targets away.
Romeo Doubs – Green Bay Packers
If you told me a 4th round pick in the 2022 NFL draft out of Nevada was going to be the leading WR in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers through week 3 I would have thought you were crazy. But here we are. Doubs leads the Packers in targets, receptions, and receiving yards. Rodgers clearly has taken a liking to Doubs amongst the receivers he has. Aaron Rodgers will throw the ball as he is averaging 22+ completions each game. Doubs has caught all but 2 of his 16 targets. Once the Packers get through New England this week, they take on the defenses of the Giants, Jets, and Commanders.
Isaiah McKenzie – Buffalo Bills
McKenzie is quickly turning the offseason hype of Gabe Davis into the in-season hype of Isiah McKenzie. Isiah is 3rd on the team in targets, 3rd on the team in receptions, and 2nd on the team in receiving yards and TDs. McKenzie is taking advantage of his looks and playing time and is a great weapon for Josh Allen to use in addition to the many he already has. If you can grab any of the Bills WR you are in a good position.
Tight Ends
Tyler Conklin – New York Jets
Conklin continues to impress early this season. The TE is tied for 1st in receptions on the Jets and 2nd in targets. 18 receptions on 24 targets are great numbers for a TE in fantasy. Flacco has clearly made it a point to target Conklin and get him involved in every game. Will be interesting to see how much exposure he will get against the Pittsburgh Steelers defense this week. Conklin is 3rd in the NFL in TE targets and 2nd in TE receptions. Conklin won’t be available much longer so grab him if he’s available.
David Njoku – Cleveland Browns
Njoku had a great game in the Browns win over the Steelers in week 3. Njoku’s stats are increasing every week. His targets have gone from 1 to 5 to 10. His receptions have gone from 1 to 3 to 9. His receiving yards have gone from 7 to 32 to 89. He scored in week 3 and will be looking to stay a threat alongside Amari Cooper. Njoku is known to have a great game randomly, now is the time to see if he can be a little more consistent. Add him if you need the TE help. He will face Atlanta in week 4.
