Week 3 TNF DFS Showdown (DraftKings)
The Line: Browns -3.5 | O/U 38.5
We have an old school slugfest tonight with the Steelers entering the Dawg Pound in Cleveland. Both of these teams are run heavy, have mediocre QB’s and we are expecting high winds for the game.
Captain Considerations
I expect this to be a slow slugfest featuring both ground games and short passes. We should start our builds placing both RB1’s in the Captain spot.
Best Captains: Nick Chubb ($18,000), Najee Harris ($14,700)
Both Chubb and Harris handle the majority of the running back reps for their respective teams. Chubb is the highest player on the board and shares some time with Kareem Hunt. He is still my favorite play tonight. Harris offers a discount from Chubb and is the featured back on the Steelers. He is also very active in the passing game.
Alternative Captain: Kareem Hunt ($11,400)
Hunt may turn out to be the highest owned Captain, but with good reason. His salary offers a significant discount from Chubb and Harris (and both QB1’s) and he is on the field just as much as Chubb. Cleveland likes to go with the hot hand in the red zone and Hunt could easily be that back.
Flex Considerations
Whichever RB you play as Captain, put the other one in the Flex. Both are capable runners, and I expect a lot of check downs with the wind. I would stack the QB for the running back you have in the Captain spot.
Best Flex: Jacoby Brissett ($8,800)
This game is not a great matchup for either QB, but if we had to pick one, Brissett would be the best option. The veteran quarterback completed 22-of-27 passes for 229 yards, a touchdown, and an interception last week. He also added 43 yards on the ground.
Flex: Pat Freiermuth ($7,000)
Freiermuth has seen 17 targets in the first 2 games of the season and looks to be Mitch’s #2 target (Dionte Johnson b eing #1). I see tight ends having a big workload, especially if the winds stay in the 30 MPH range.
Flex: Harrison Bryant ($4,600)
Sticking with tight end, Bryant has been targeted more than David Njoku (8-6) this season and offers a significant discount to roster higher end players.
Other thoughts
Defenses are in play and will be highly owned. I personally will be fading them as a contrarian stance. Another contrarian stance would be to Captain one of the QB1’s. For it to pay off, you will need one of them to run in a TD and both are capable.
Favorite stack: Chubb (Cpt), Brissett and Hunt (Flex)
