Trade Hub – Week 16

Happy Monday and welcome back to my weekly trade HUB article! Mike Hubbard Jr here, ready to help you with trade suggestions that can help your chances of winning your fantasy league. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) and Instagram (@fantasyhubbard) for all things fantasy football. Feel free to tweet me or message me on either social media with any comments or questions you might have regarding fantasy football.

Week 15 is usually ending tonight following a MNF game but COVID has other plans. We now have 2 MNF games and 2 Tuesday night football games. All are considered week 15. Make sure to check your leagues rules on postponed games. Below is the schedule for week 15’s final 4 games.

Monday:       Raiders @ Browns – 5pm EST

Vikings @ Bears – 8:15pm EST

Tuesday:      Washington @ Eagles – 7pm EST

Seahawks @ Rams – 7pm EST

Most fantasy football leagues trade deadlines have passed, but I know some leagues don’t use a deadline at all so this article is for those who are still able to trade. It’s time to get strategic and use your persuasion and negotiation skills out in the fantasy football trade market. Here are some players to buy and sell before week 16 begins. Like I always say, one trade could be the difference in winning or losing your fantasy football league.

PLAYERS TO BUY

David Montgomery – Chicago Bears

Montgomery has 62 rushing attempts in the last 4 weeks for Chicago. The next closest RB is Khalil Herbert with just 10 carries. David has double digit carries in every game he has played in this season and has really emerged as a dual threat lately. Since week 12, Montgomery has caught 17 of his 19 targets for 118 receiving yards. The Bears take on Minnesota tonight, then travel to Seattle, and finally host the Giants to conclude the fantasy playoffs. Montgomery has the workload and skillset to rack up fantasy points, especially in PPR.

Zach Ertz – Arizona Cardinals

Zach Ertz caught 6 passes for 74 receiving yards in week 15 where he saw a season high 11 targets. Only Christian Kirk had better receiving stats against the Lions. I can see Kyler Murray continuing to target Ertz as he is a reliable pass catcher and without DeAndre Hopkins, his workload should stay plentiful. Ertz could be a sneaky TE that can produce in your payoff run. Ertz gets the Colts next week and then a familiar foe in the Dallas Cowboys in week 17. Buy low.

Odell Beckham Jr – Las Angeles Rams

OBJ plays tomorrow evening against the Seahawks. Over his last 3 games, OBJ has 186 receiving yards, 13 receptions on 22 targets, and 3 receiving TDs (had 0 prior to week 12). If OBJ can stay healthy he could have a great finish to the NFL season and your fantasy football season. The Rams get the Vikings and then the Ravens to finish out the fantasy playoffs. Although Van Jefferson is fighting OBJ for WR2 on the team, they both have been great when playing together. Whether OBJ or Baker Mayfield was ‘the problem’ in Cleveland, Matthew Stafford and OBJ have only been a problem for opposing defenses.

PLAYERS TO SELL

Michael Pittman – Indianapolis Colts

Pittman has been by far the best WR for the Colts this season. The problem is that the Colts have Jonathan Taylor who is currently a candidate for MVP. The offense runs literally through Taylor and I don’t blame them. Taylor has scored in 11 consecutive games. Pittman is coming off his worst game of the season statistically (1 reception for 7 yards) and gets Arizona and Las Vegas to finish the fantasy season. Pittman leads the team with 5 TD receptions but hasn’t had any since week 9 against the Jets. He has the most targets, receptions, and receiving yards for the Colts over the last 4 weeks, however 5 different pass catchers have caught at least 1 TD when he has none. I would sell high.

Darren Waller – Las Vegas Raiders

Waller hasn’t played since week 12 when he had just 2 receptions for 33 receiving yards. Waller is already ruled out for the MNF matchup tonight against the Browns, and his health is of concern moving forward since he is still considered week-to-week. He can be a positive game changer and target hog when he is healthy, but I would not want to risk him in a fantasy playoff unless he seemed more optimistic. Wallers name alone can get attention in a potential playoff trade. I’d much rather have Hunter Renfrow out of them 2 but try trading Waller for a fantasy starter who is healthy and has good volume in these last pivotal games.

Kyle Pitts – Atlanta Falcons

Pitts has been average at best this season, which may be considered underperforming, but remember he is a rookie and he plays on the Falcons. Pitts had his 1 and only TD this season back in week 5. Since week 8, Pitts has only 1 game with 5+ receptions despite being targeted 5+ times in every one of those games. Kyle gets the Lions in week 16 but has a tough test against the Bills in week 17. Sell high.

Julio Jones – Tennessee Titans

Julio Jones was targeted 1 time in week 15 which did not result in a reception in a loss to the Steelers. Stop me if you’ve heard this before: he left the game early due to an injury. Jones has missed 6 games throughout this season due to injuries. The severity of his injury is unknown at this time, but AJ Brown is expected to come off IR in week 16 so that is just reassurance that he should not be started. Sell Jones for whatever you can get. Someone with TD upside is better than Jones who hasn’t scored this season.

Recent News

Dolphins RB Jaylen Wright (knee) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 3 against the Bills.
Wright missed the first two games of the year with a knee issue he suffered just before the start of the season. He was limited in the first two practices of the week but managed a full session today. Ollie Gordon failed to carve out a meaningful role in Miami while Wright was sidelined. Neither back has much fantasy value going forward.

Darren Waller (hip) will not play in Week 3 against the Bills.
Waller was limited in all three practices this week, suggesting he is making progress with the hip issue. He has yet to play in 2025 after coming out of retirement during the summer to backfill Jonnu Smith's role. Even if he does return next week, fantasy managers can ignore the age-33 tight end for now.
(Sep 17 -- NBC Sports)

Jaylen Waddle (shoulder) is questionable for Week 3 against the Bills.
Waddle was a surprise addition to Tuesday's injury report after not appearing on the first report of the week. He was listed as limited and got in another partial session today before being listed as questionable. He should be able to play through the shoulder ailment, but fantasy managers will want to keep tabs on this situation when the Dolphins release their inactives before kickoff. Malik Washington would slide into the No. 2 role if Waddle is unable to suit up.
(Sep 17 -- NBC Sports)

Colts CB Charvarius Ward (concussion) returned to practice Wednesday.
Ward did not practice last week because of his concussion and was ruled out on Friday. A return on Wednesday puts him in line to suit up for Week 3, but the veteran corner will still need to clear the league's concussion protocol before being given the green light. Fellow Indy defender Laiatu Latu was also spotted at practice. The second-year EDGE missed Week 2 with a hamstring injury. Getting both players back for Week 3 would be a big win for a Colts defense that just gave up 28 points to the Broncos.
(Sep 17 -- NBC Sports)

49ers signed OL Brandon Parker, formerly of the Raiders.
The 49ers correspondingly placed OG Ben Bartch on injured reserve with an ankle injury and promoted TE Brayden Willis from the practice squad. Parker was a liability as a run blocker and pass protector but the former 2018 third-round pick is at least an experienced veteran.
