Week 9 is ending tonight after a MNF matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are favored by 7 points and this game has an over/under of 39. I believe the Steelers will win this game rather easily. The Bears have recently shown promise, but the Steelers defense is above average and they’re playing in Pittsburgh. I expect the Bears to struggle on offense through the air and on the ground. Khalil Herbert and/or David Montgomery should get a hefty workload, but I don’t see the Steelers giving up any big plays. I could see this being a low scoring game. My bold prediction is for Najee Harris to accumulate 150 total yards with a TD. Steelers win 20-10.
Make sure you are aware of your leagues trade deadline and plan/act accordingly. It’s time to get strategic and use your persuasion and negotiation skills out in the fantasy football trade market. Here are some players to buy and sell before week 10 begins. Like I always say, one trade could be the difference in winning or losing your fantasy football league.
PLAYERS TO BUY
Darren Waller – Las Vegas Raiders
Darren Waller finally emerged from his rough skid that started after his week 1 boom. It took until week 9, but he had 11 targets, 7 receptions, and 92 receiving yards. All 3 of those stats were the most for him in a game over the past 7 weeks. We all know the Henry Ruggs situation and DeSean Jackson is expected to be a Raider as soon as this week. I don’t believe that should affect Wallers volume. Waller remains a top TE and this could be your last opportunity to acquire him. Trade deadlines are approaching, and Waller is expected to consistently produce. Buy Waller, especially if you don’t have a reliable TE, but try not to pay up. The Raiders get the Kansas City Chiefs defense next week as well.
Jerry Jeudy – Denver Broncos
Jeudy and the Broncos made a statement this week upsetting the Cowboys in Dallas. In his 2nd game back from injury he put up 6 receptions for 69 yards on 8 targets. In the 3 games he has participated in this season he is averaging 6+ targets, 5+ receptions, and 60 receiving yards. Jeudy is a clear favorite option for Teddy Bridgewater as he led the team in targets with 8 which was 3 more than anyone else. The Broncos get the Eagles next week who just let Kennan Allen rack up 12 receptions for 104 receiving yards. Jeudy is going to get his production as long as he can stay healthy. Buy low before he scores some TDs soon.
Michael Carter – New York Jets
Michael Carter has quietly been a good RB this season in fantasy. Even though the Jets are pretty bad on offense, Carter gets volume and produces. He has double digit carries in each of his last 5 games with 3 rushing TDs. He also has at least 20 receiving yards in each of his last 4 games. Carter has the Bills defense next week but after that he has a favorable remaining schedule. I would try to buy him very low.
Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have now won 2 games in row after starting 3-4. That’s the good news, the bad news is Mahomes and company do not look like the Chiefs that made back-to-back super bowl appearances. The offense and defense are struggling, and people are panicking. Mahomes has just 2 TDs in his last 3 games after having at least 2 TDs in every game through week 6. This might be the only time to get Mahomes low on the trade market. Find that frustrated Mahomes owner and send him some offers in hopes that the Chiefs get their offense back on track.
PLAYERS TO SELL
Devonta Freeman – Baltimore Ravens
Freeman had a good week 9 setting season highs in both carries and rushing yards. He finished the day with 13 carries for 79 rushing yards and had his 1st receiving TD of the season. Lamar Jackson had 120 rushing yards continuing to prove that he is the main rushing option. The Ravens use a few different RBs which is frustrating in fantasy as you never know who will lead the back field. Your best plan of action is to avoid the headache and sell him after this positive performance.
Devontae Booker – New York Giants
Booker has been impressive as RB1 for the Giants while Saquon Barkley has been out. In week 9 he set season highs in carries and rushing yards with 21 carries for 99 rushing yards. That is now 5 consecutive games with double digit carries and at least 2 receptions. The Giants have a week 10 BYE and are hoping Barkley will be ready to play in week 11. Bookers role will significantly decrease if that happens. Sell Booker as high as you can before it’s too late.
Mike Williams – Las Angeles Rams
Mike Williams now has 3 consecutive games with just 2 receptions and no scores. He only has only been targeted 5 times in each of those 3. His production for the team is getting smaller rather than larger which is concerning for his owners. Sell Williams as high as you can prior to the trade deadline unless you believe that he can turn it around.
Brandon Aiyuk – San Francisco 49ers
Aiyuk is finally trending in a positive direction. He had his best game of the season on Sunday when he had 6 receptions on 8 targets for 89 receiving yards with a TD. George Kittle returned from injury and played a significant role in the passing game. The 49ers had only 11 rushing attempts in this game and Jimmy Garoppolo threw 40 times in hopes of a comeback against the Cardinals. Try to sell Aiyuk to an optimistic fantasy owner.
