Waiver Hub – Week 7

Mike Hubbard Jr here, welcome back to my weekly Waiver HUB. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) and Instagram (@fantasyhubbard) for all things fantasy football throughout the season. Feel free to tweet me or message me on either social media with any comments or questions you might have regarding fantasy football.
Week 6 has officially ended and week 7 starts Thursday with a matchup between the banged-up Cleveland Browns and the Denver Broncos. There are a ton of fantasy relevant players in this game, but with all of the injuries and uncertainties it’s tough to currently have expectations of who is playing and how much exposure said players will get. That being said, my bold prediction in this one is a Javonte Williams breakout game. Javonte could finish the game with over 100 total yards and a TD or 2. Bold enough for you? I like Javonte a lot this season so expect more on him.
It is once again Tuesday which means its that time to hit the waiver wire. Another week gone, another hefty dose of injuries. Below are my top waiver wire priorities this week. Go get those available players to help your chances moving forward. Good luck this week and remember to check back every week to stay informed on who you could target off of waivers.
Quarterbacks
Tua Tagovailoa – Miami Dolphins
Tua started in London Sunday morning for the first time since getting injured in Week 2. He attempted 47 passes and completed 33 of them for 329 yards and 2 passing TDs. Miami takes on Atlanta next in week 7 which should give Tua the chance to succeed in fantasy again. Atlanta has been very friendly to opposing QBs. Miami has been struggling to run the ball as well making it more likely that he will continue to throw a lot.
Running Backs
JD McKissic – Washington Football Team
JD had a good day in a loss to the Chiefs on Sunday where he saw 10 targets leading to 8 receptions for 65 receiving yards. He also tacked on 45 rushing yards on 8 carries. Antonio Gibson has been struggling with injuries which has opened the door for McKissic. He has proven to be a great pass catcher who has produced this season when called upon. McKissic is 2nd to only Terry McLaurin in targets, receptions, and receiving yards this season, which is rare for a team’s RB, let alone the RB2 of the team. Given the uncertainty of Gibson, McKissic is a great waiver target.
D’Ernest Johnson – Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns are a mess right now. QB Baker Mayfield, RBs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, and WRs Beckham Jr and Jarvis Landry are all dealing with injuries. Kareem Hunt should be out for several weeks and Nick Chubb’s status is currently unknown going into their week 7 matchup against the Broncos this Thursday night. If Chubb is unable to play, Johnson should have a nice workload as the primary RB. Demetric Felton is also an appealing option this week if Chubb is unable to go. Look for Johnson to rush on early downs and Felton to be more of a pass catcher. D’Ernest is a great target this week with many players on BYE.
Wide Receivers
Rashod Bateman – Baltimore Ravens
Rashod Bateman made his season debut for the Ravens in week 6. He tied Mark Andrews with 6 targets which was most for Ravens WRs. The rookie caught 4 of his targets for 29 yards. The Ravens take on the Bengals in week 7 which should be a great game. Lamar Jackson has shown a lot of promise this season throwing the ball which helps Bateman’s potential. Brown, Watkins, and Bateman should be the Ravens trio of WRs that Jackson will throw to. Look for Bateman’s role on the offense to continue to grow as the season goes on.
TY Hilton – Indianapolis Colts
TY Hilton played his first game of the season for the Colts in week 6 against the Texans. In a game where the Colts dominated the score board, Hilton led the team in targets, receptions, and receiving yards. He finished the game with 4 receptions for 80 yards on 4 targets. Carson Wentz only attempted 20 passes and 4 of the 11 completions he had went to Hilton. TY did pick up a quad injury so that is something to definitely monitor. It doesn’t appear to be serious, but nothing has been said yet on his status for week 7. He is worth the waiver target, especially if you need players due to BYE weeks.
Jamal Agnew – Jacksonville Jaguars
Jamal Agnew has emerged as a viable WR for the Jags with the likes of Marvin Jones and Laviska Shenault Jr. Agnew finished his game in London Sunday with 5 receptions for 78 yards on 6 targets. He was 3rd in targets and 2nd in receiving yards in Jacksonville’s first win in over a year. Agnew has had 11 receptions for 119 yards on 13 targets since week 6 began after having just 1 reception for 29 yards on 1 target in the first 4 weeks. As we all know, the Jaguars are constantly playing from behind and end up throwing quite a bit. Trevor Lawrence has at least 33 pass attempts in all but 1 game this season. If Agnew’s past 2 games are any indicator of his statistics moving forward, he could easily be fantasy relevant and worth a waiver target and stash.
Darnell Mooney – Chicago Bears
Darnell Mooney caught his 1st TD of the season on Sunday in a loss to the Packers. Mooney caught 5 of 8 targets and finished the day with 45 receiving yards. He led the team in targets and receptions. He has some chemistry with Justin Fields and is starting to show his potential. Fields and Mooney have a great matchup against the Buccaneers in week 7. Tampa Bay has dominated against the run but has let QBs, WRs, and TEs rack up fantasy points. Expect Tom Brady to be the GOAT he is and lead them to a convincing win in Tampa. Bears will have to air it out to stay competitive. Mooney is a good option this week, so he is well worth the waiver target.
Tight Ends
Zach Ertz – Arizona Cardinals
Zach Ertz played the Buccaneers on Thursday Night which was his last game with Philadelphia since he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals. Ertz caught a TD and had 4 receptions on 6 targets for 29 yards. Maxx Williams has been the only Cardinals TE to register a reception this season. Maxx was placed on IR and his season may be over. Enter Ertz. Ertz will be TE1 in Arizona and is just another weapon for Kylar Murray and the undefeated Cardinals. Ertz had been competing with Dallas Goedert in Philly but now gets the position to himself. The situation is a lot better for him and also for Goedert in fantasy football. Well worth a roster spot in a season where TE production has been less than ideal.
Ricky Seals-Jones – Washington Football Team
WFT struggled to get points on Sunday when they faced the Chiefs. Ricky Seals-Jones caught 4 of 6 targets for 58 yards and a TD. Logan Thomas is still on the IR for at least 1 more game, he is eligible to return week 8 but playing in week 8 seems optimistic. Seals-Jones has been targeted 15 times in his last 2 games which is exactly what fantasy owners like to see at the TE position. The WFT gets the Packers this upcoming weekend who haven’t contained TEs this season. Ricky is a great option at TE until Logan Thomas is available and healthy enough to take his starting job back.
