Waiver Hub – Week 17

Merry Christmas Eve and happy holidays to everyone. Mike here, welcome back to my weekly Waiver HUB. It is time to make some moves and prepare for fantasy greatness. Injuries are inevitable so here is another chance to hit the waiver wire and get impactful players. Another week gone, another opportunity to make your team stronger and inch your way to that league trophy and an offseason of bragging rights.

Last night we got the absolute demolition of the Saints who lost by a score of 34-0 in Green Bay. Saints could not get anything going clearly, and the Packers did not need to flex hard in this one. Monday Night Football in week 17 belongs to the Detroit Lions and the San Francisco 49ers.

Below are my top waiver wire priorities this week. Get those available players to help your chances at a championship. Good luck this week and remember to check back every week to stay informed on who you could target off waivers.

TOP PRIORITY OF THE WEEK

Tyjae Spears – Tennessee Titans

Tyjae has back-to-back 2 TD games for the Titans, and he is doing it all through the air and on the ground. He only has 14 carries for 32 yards in his has 3 games, but they resulted in 3 rushing TDs. His bigger impact is coming via the pass. He has been targeted 11 times in the last 2 games and converted those into 9 receptions for 126 receiving yards and a TD. Titans get the Jaguars again where this time around Spears has momentum and the upper hand.

Quarterbacks

Bryce Young – Carolina Panthers

Young is coming off an overtime victory where he threw 2 TD passes without throwing any INTs, and he scored a rushing TD which is his third in his last 4 games. Not usually a dual threat QB but he is proving me and everyone else wrong in that department. Young is finding a late season groove and gets the a Tampa Bay defense next who is known to give up some points and big plays. He had his highest passing yard total of the season with 298 last time they played each other, and he scored in that game by throw and rush,

Caleb Williams – Chicago Bears

Caleb Williams may be losing left and right, but his fantasy value is at an all time high. He has multiple TD passes in 4 of his last 5 games and is coming off a 334-yard passing game. He has 4 300+ yard games this season as a rookie. Williams has been doing it all lately without turning the ball over despite the big losses. He gets Seattle next which is not a terrible matchup, so I expect more of the same from Caleb.

Running Backs

Tyjae Spears – Tennessee Titans

Gus Edwards – LA Chargers

The Gus Bus had his best fantasy performance of the season in week 16 which is better late than never. He finished with 14 carries for a season high 68 rushing yards. He also scored 2 TDs which was his total on the year prior to the game. Good momentum to have going into a week 17 matchup with the Patriots defense that has been average this season. I expect another double digit carry game for Gus.

Wide Receivers

Marquise Brown – Kansas City Chiefs

Welcome back Hollywood! Brown was activated in time for week 16 with Mahomes and he didn’t disappoint. He finished the game with 8 targets, 5 receptions, and 45 receiving yards. He is now on a team with the likes of DeAndre Hopkins, Travis Kelce, and a bunch of young talent. Having been targeted 8 times with those kind of guys around you is great news for his week 18 fantasy outlook, he has the Pittsburgh defense next on Christmas Day, but he is the perfect deep ball threat for the occasion.

Jalen McMillan – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

McMillan continued his streak of impressive performances to 3 games in week 16. He now has scored 4 receiving TDs in his last 3 games while averaging 63 yards receiving per game in those 3 games. He gets Carolina’s defense next which is better against the pass than the run, but with his momentum I would say get him and start him.

Tight Ends

Dalton Schultz – Houston Texans

Schultz can be very haphazard this season, but I am hoping he produces in week 17. The TE has 45+ receiving yards in 4 of his last 8 games and has scored a TD in 2 of his last 3 games. Texans will need to score to keep up with Baltimore this week and Schultz and Stroud are up for the challenge.
