Waiver Hub – Week 16

Happy week 16 to all fantasy followers. It is Tuesday and we have reached the next round of fantasy playoffs so let’s keep striving for fantasy gold and let’s have a great week while we are at it! Mike here, welcome back to my weekly Waiver HUB. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) for all things fantasy football throughout the season.

Last night we had a MNF matchup between the visiting Eagles and the home team Seahawks. The Eagles jumped to an early lead but inevitably fell by a score of 20-17 on a solid last-minute drive by Drew Lock. Eagles enter panic mode while the Seahawks can breathe for a minute. Eagles get the Giants next in a must win game and the Seahawks take on the Titans to keep their hopes of playoffs alive. Next week we get 3 games on MONDAY which happens to be Christmas. Check out my Start/Sit article later in the week to go through those games.

Go out and make some moves and strive for fantasy postseason greatness. Injuries are inevitable so here’s another chance to hit the waiver wire and get impactful players. Another week gone, another opportunity to make your team stronger and inch your way to that league trophy and an offseason of bragging rights.

Below are my top waiver wire priorities this week. Go get those available players to help your chances at a championship. Good luck this week and remember to check back every week to stay informed on who you could target off of waivers.

TOP PRIORITY OF THE WEEK

Noah Brown – Houston Texans

Noah Brown is up on my waivers article yet another week. If he is still available, what are you waiting for? Brown played with Mills at QB and no Tank Dell and still ate. He finished with 8 receptions for 82 yards and a TD on 11 targets. Brown is a homerun hitter giving us 3 great performances this season which doesn’t seem like a lot but remember he’s only played in 7 games. The Browns are a great defense so be prepared for the matchup, but with CJ Stroud supposedly returning to action, it only makes me like Brown more.

Quarterbacks

Baker Mayfield – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Baker is putting together some great performances at the perfect time in fantasy football. Its playoffs and he is playing strong. He had 3 total TDs and 144 passing yards in week 14 which was great, but then in week 15 he follows it up with 381 passing yards and 4 passing TDs. Baker has the Bucs on a 3-game win streak and will host the Jaguars in week 16 who have let opposing QBs tee off lately. Baker has been on fire with Mike Evans and last game seemed to get Chris Godwin going. Watch out for the Bucs offense.

Derek Carr – New Orleans Saints

Carr has had a rollercoaster season with what seems to be more lows than highs. He had good back-to-back games in week 8 and 9 but haven’t made a big impact until week 15. Carr threw for 218 passing yards and had a season high 3 passing TDs. So, he is coming off a nice outing, and the next 2 games on the Saints schedule are the Rams and then the Buccaneers. Both favorable matchups for Carr down the stretch. Good QB to add if you’re in a pinch.

Running Backs

Ty Chandler – Minnesota Vikings

Chandler got the start at RB for the Vikings in week 15 due to Mattison not playing. Chandler took full advantage of the opportunity and went off for 132 rushing yards on 23 carries. Chandler had 23 of the 30 total rushing attempts for the Vikings. Mattison is due to return in week 16 when the Vikings play Detroit. I still like Chandler over Mattison, and the matchup with the Lions isn’t ideal, but Chandler should continue to be a big part of the Vikings offense through the fantasy playoffs.

Tyler Allgeier – Atlanta Falcons

Tyler had a team high 14 carries resulting in 45 rushing yards. That is telling given no one else had over 7. Bijan Robinson had 7 rushes, Cordarrelle Patterson had 5, and Desmond Ridder had 5 as well. Falcons run a lot and Allgeier was the most productive of any of the RBs. Falcons take on the Colts in week 16 who are close to the bottom at defending opposing RBs. Bijan Robinson will also be a popular name next week after a mediocre week 15. Both are great options next week, however Allgeier is the name that might still be available.

Wide Receivers

Dontayvion Wicks – Green Bay Packers

Wicks is a 5th round WR rookie out of Virginia. The rookie is starting to make some noise with the injuries to Christian Watson and Jayden Reed. Wicks has 7 consecutive games played with at least 4 targets in each game, including 13 in his last 2 games combined. In week 15, Dontayvion set career highs with 7 targets, 6 receptions, and 97 receiving yards. Panthers might be a tough matchup, but it’s hard to ignore the attention Wicks has been receiving.

Tyler Boyd – Cincinnati Bengals

Tee Higgins might have stolen the show in week 15 with multiple TD receptions, but Boyd is on the radar too, especially now that we know Ja’Marr Chase has a shoulder injury that is expected to sideline him in week 16. Jake Browning has been playing with confidence and has the Bengals on a 3-game winning streak going into Pittsburgh. In the last 4 weeks, Boyd has been the most targeted Bengal after Chase. Pittsburgh isn’t the greatest matchup, but teams have been scoring on them lately and Boyd is familiar with the Steelers having played them twice a year his entire career. He also went to Pittsburgh for school so it will be a nice return.

Noah Brown – Houston Texans

Tight Ends

Hunter Henry – New England Patriots

Henry led his entire Patriots team in targets, receptions, receiving yards, and receiving TDs. Patriots lost to the Chiefs, but not without Hunter accumulating 66 receiving yards, catching 6 of his 9 targets. He has 6 TDs this season and 3 of them have come in his last 2 games. There isn’t much going right with New England so it’s nice to know Hunter Henry is still playing well.

Isaiah Likely – Baltimore Ravens

Likely continues to take advantage of his role on the Ravens since the injury Mark Andrews encountered that ended his season. Isaiah tied Rashod Bateman with 6 targets to lead the team in week 15 but led every Raven with 5 receptions, 70 receiving yards, and scored the lone Ravens receiving TD. No one wants to play the 49ers right now, but Likely has them in week 16 in what should be an intriguing game.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said CB Joey Porter Jr. (hamstring) is "questionable at best" for Week 3.
Porter missed last week's loss to the Seahawks while recovering from a hamstring injury and could sit out this week against the Patriots. The Steelers' secondary has struggled to start the season, allowing the NFL's sixth highest adjusted yards per attempt and the seventh highest accuracy rate. Porter's absence could be a boon for Drake Maye in Week 3.
