NFL DFS: Thursday Night Football Showdown – Eagles at Texans

The Line: Eagles -14 | O/U 45

We have what looks to be a pretty lopsided game tonight with the undefeated Eagles heading to Houston. The Texans have a terrible run defense but only give up the sixth-fewest points to the wide receiver position.  This tells me that most people will Captain Jalen Hurts or Miles Sanders for their rushing ability.  AJ Brown will also be heavily owned in the Captain sport. Therefore I am going to go a little contrarian in most of my lineups.

Captain/MVP Pick

DeVonta Smith, PHL – WR

While most people will understandably roster Hurts or Sanders as their Captain, I am going to roster Smith in most lineups. He has to potential to take over a game as he did in Week 3 (34 DK Points) and he should be open early with the attention Houston will put on AJ Brown.

Also Consider: Jalen Hurts, Eagles Defense

FLEX Picks

Jalen Hurts, PHL – QB

Hurts has emerged as the premiere dual-threat QB this season. He routinely scores 20+ DK points every week and he should have his way with the Houston defense, both on the ground and in the air.

Miles Sanders, PHL – RB

Sanders has scored five touchdowns through seven games this season and is averaging 15 DraftKings points per game. The Texans are allowing the most DraftKings points per game to RBs at 35.7.  Sanders should run all over this defense and may score a couple of long-distance touchdowns.

Dameon Pierce, HOU – RB

If Houston has any chance of staying in this game it will be on the shoulders of Pierce. Over the past 5 games, he has rushed for over 90 yards in 4 of those games and averaged 19 DK points a week.  The Eagles also surrender almost 115 yards per game on the ground.

Chris Moore, HOU – WR

With Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins not expected to play, Moore could see a lot of snaps and targets. Houston will eventually need to throw to try and keep up and Moore could be the only option.

Also Consider: Eagles Defense, AJ Brown

Value Picks

Chris Moore, HOU – WR

With Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins not expected to play, Moore could see a lot of snaps and targets. Houston will eventually need to throw to try and keep up and Moore could be the only option.

Boston Scott, PHL- RB

Scott is always given a few plays a game and could easily break one for a TD against the terrible Houston run defense.  There is also a possibility of some garbage time if the Eagles have a big lead.

Recent News

Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (shoulder) said that he will play in Week 3 against the Bills.
The Dolphins are 12.0-point road underdogs, signaling a likely pass-heavy game script for Miami. Although we would prefer that the Dolphins score touchdowns in bunches, a tilted game script that features their speedy pass catchers will suffice. Waddle is a borderline WR2/3 for this week's Thursday Night Football game.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Packers TE Tucker Kraft is believed to be "all good" after undergoing tests today.
One source tells Schefter that Kraft had "a little scare" today, while another adds that they "think he will be OK." It sounds like Kraft is not expected to miss an extended period of time, but these positive, yet ambiguous, remarks leave room for interpretation. Fantasy managers should still make backup plans for Week 3 at this time.

Isaiah Likely Limited Thursday
Ravens TE Isaiah Likely (foot) was limited in Thursday's practice. We're tentatively expecting him to play vs. the Lions on Monday night but will keep you updated on his status over the next few days. Likely would not be a bankable fantasy play in his 2025 debut, although he could quickly become one with TE Mark Andrews off to a slow start.
