NFL DFS: Monday Night Football – LA Rams at SF 49ers

The Line: San Fran -2 | O/U 42.5

Everyone is predicting this to be a slugfest between 2 of the top defenses in the league and I tend to agree.  5 of the last 6 meetings totaled 43 points or less for the game total. Both teams tend to play better in primetime and both running attacks are suspect. For betting purposes, I am going to take the over.

Captain/MVP Picks

Cooper Kupp – WR, $18,000 (DK), $17,500 (FD)

All the talking heads said Cooper Kupp would regress and could not possibly keep up his [ace from last year.  We are 3 weeks in and Kupp is proving everyone wrong. Even when LA plays badly, Kupp gets his points.  I don’t see any reason not to roster Kupp as your Captain/MVP in every lineup, especially on FanDuel.

Also Consider: Deebo Samuel

FLEX Picks

Brandon Aiyuk – WR, $7,600 (DK), $11,500 (FD)

Aiyuk is Jimmy G’s favorite target.  Deebo and Kittle will understandably garner the majority of the coverage, leaving Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings in a good position to gather receptions.

Matthew Stafford – QB, $10,600 (DK), $13,500 (FD)

Stafford is a difficult read this week.  He doesn’t tend t put up huge numbers deserving of the captain slot, but he will be the one throwing to Kupp, making for a decent stack.  I am also concerned about his elbow and his ability t throw deep accurately. I really like a Stafford-Kupp-Higbee stack. Don’t be afraid to fade Stafford and play Jimmy G or no QB at all.

Tyler Higbee – TE, $5,200 (DK), $10,500 (FD)

Higbee is the second leading receiver on the Rams in targets and receptions.  Stafford basically looks for Kupp, then Higbee, and then gets sacked or throws it away.  With Stafford’s elbow I expect a lot of short quick passes against an aggressive SF Defense.  Higbee is also way under priced at $5,200 on DK.

Also Consider: Jimmy Garopolo, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel

Value Picks

Jauan Jennings – WR, $2,000 (DK), $7,500 (FD)

Averaging a mere 3 targets a game, Jennings is one of those showdown plays that seem to come out of nowhere. With his price you only need 3-30, and you can roster a pretty darn good lineup.

Kickers and Defense

It’s going to be a low scoring affair, therefore kickers and defenses are in play.  I don’t expect them to be worth a captain slot, but using them as a salary saver is a good strategy.

Najee Harris Puts In Full Practice Wednesday
Chargers RB Najee Harris (eye) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. It's more confirmation that he's on track to play in Friday night's opener against the Chiefs in Brazil. Harris didn't practice a single time in training camp after his July 4 fireworks accident, so it's tough to imagine that he'll be ready for a significant role on Friday. Harris should not be in fantasy lineups, but his availability makes RB Omarion Hampton a slightly shakier Week 1 start. The rookie's total yardage prop is set at a modest 64.5 yards at most sportsbooks. See where Hampton lands in the Week 1 RB Rankings.
